Otis Rush is a blues musician credited for originating the West Side Chicago Blues sound with his vibrato-heavy jazz-influenced electric guitar playing.
Career
Otis Rush taught himself to play guitar as an eight-year old child. By the time he arrived in Chicago in 1948, he was ready to make a name for himself in that city's blues scene. Rush recorded and performed until 2004, when a stroke curtailed his ability to play. A Grammy Award winner for Any Place I'm Goin' in 1999, Rush is a recognized influence on blues-rock artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Green, and Eric Clapton.
