The Oscar Red Carpet Live Coverage page is minute by minute coverage of the red carpet arrivals at the 2010 Oscars, that were held on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California.

This year, Oscar.com and Facebook teamed up for a special pre-show, "Oscar.com Live from the Red Carpet," which featured questions from Facebook users and was streamed live on Oscar.com. The hosts for this special presentation were Lisa Guerrero and Brett Chukerman. They covered all the red carpet excitement and delivered the questions to the celebrities. ABC broadcasted both the red carpet event and the 82nd Academy Awards live and it was simulcast on Oscar.com.

2010 Mahalo Live Red Carpet Blogging

  • 4:55 PM: Cameron Diaz is the last star to arrive. Thanks for joining us, everyone!

  • 4:53 PM: Robert Downey Jr and his wife debate whether or not they're a "power couple." The latest Iron Man 2 trailer will debut after the Oscars during Jimmy Kimmel Live. He's a presenter this evening, but says he gets confident when others are nervous.

Cyrus says she feels she has "mastered comedy" and is excited to be at the show. She wore her hair up for a more elegant look.

Jennifer Lopez, a presenter at the show, wore a pink gown from Armani. It's being called an "ambitious look."

Meryl Streep in a white dress. She says she's rooting for all of her competition. She does not really seem nervous despite all the pressure.

  • 4:49 PM: Queen Latifah is there as a presenter. She's wearing a purple dress. It has one jeweled shoulder that then wraps around the body in a continuous curve.

  • 4:47 PM: Quentin Tarantino sounds really hoarse. He says he's surprised and gratified that he gets to make very culty, non-mainstream works and yet consistently gets praise from the Academy. He says he can't ever revisit From Dusk Till Dawn because he's too old now.

  • 4:43 PM: Jeff Bridges' wife says she loves seeing her husband acknowledged by his peers. He talks a bit about Tron Legacy and says that he still loves to talk about Crazy Heart, one of his favorite films in which he's been involved. He says that, if his father Lloyd Bridges were alive today, he'd tell him "Atta boy!"

  • 4:40 PM: Meryl Streep, in a white dress that almost looks like a suit, talks about her nominated role as Julia Child, but says she's rooting for Sandra Bullock, and also loves Gabourey Sidibe, Carey Mulligan and Helen Mirren as well. She's the most nominated actress in Oscar history.

Gabourey Sidibe said that the red carpet reminds her of Prom.

Clooney talked about running a telethon for Haiti, and that he didn't have any experience in knowing about the island nation before getting involved.

  • 4:33 PM: Gabourey Sidibe has arrived. She's "the belle of the ball." She's wearing a blue gown with silver vines crisscrossing the front. She says she looks at the Oscars like the Prom. She's up for Best Actress for Precious.

  • 4:29 PM: Presenter Samuel L Jackson is wearing an Armani tuxedo. He says he comes to the Oscars to see old friends. He'll be presenting Best Picture contender Up!, a movie he loved.

  • 4:26 PM: George Clooney, nominated for Up in the Air, said he was gratified that people wanted to talk about the movie after watching it. He also talks about his relief efforts in the aftermath of the Haiti Earthquake.

  • 4:24 PM: Best Director nominee Kathryn Bigelow could be the first woman ever to win the award. She says she wishes all the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan would come home safe.

Carey Mulligan, star of An Education, doesn't know why there are scissors and forks dangling from her dress, and readily admits as much.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a Chanel gown that was very unusual. She won praise for both the dress and her simple, "pale" make-up.

  • 4:20PM: Carey Mulligan, a nominee for Best Actress for An Education talks about her unique hairstyle, which is being called "the Carey Mulligan." This is her first big red carpet, she says. She'll next be seen in Oliver Stone's Wall Street sequel. She has scissors and forks on her dress. (She doesn't know why either.)

  • 4:19 PM: George Clooney, whom the hosts are noting is a "nice guy" and "genuine," is signing autographs for fans.

  • 4:18 PM: Praise for Sarah Jessica Parker's make-up and Chanel gown, which is called "daring" and "original," as well as "modern" and "Napoleonic."

  • 4:12 PM: Ryan Reynolds is talking about the rigors of shooting TV, and how movies are "slower."

  • 4:10 PM: Maggie Gyllenhaal is wearing a printed gown that's floral and draped. It suits her slender, model body well. The pundits describe it as "chic."

  • 4:09 PM: Jake Gyllenhaal is there to support his sister Maggie. He's also promoting his upcoming film adaptation of Prince of Persia, which he describes as "epic."

The pundits couldn't decide whether the embroidery on Bullock's gown was gold, silver or champagne colored, but it was universally praised save for the color of her lipstick, which was deemed to not match the rest of the ensemble.

  • 4:05 PM: Vera Farmiga has arrived. She's in a fuschia gown and is wearing her hair up. She says that the nomination is really the award itself. She just completed a zany romantic comedy with Keanu Reeves. She's up for Best Supporting Actress for Up in the Air.

  • 4:00 PM: Sandra Bullock, nominated for Best Actress for The Blind Side, has arrived. She's in a mesh silver/champagne gown that looks like embroidered vines. Her husband is hiding from Pennacchio. She showed up at the 2010 Razzies the other day to accept her award for Worst Actress in All About Steve.

  • 3:53 PM: Director Tom Ford of A Single Man says that, though he's also a designer, he's focused on film this evening, not fashion.

Austrian actor Christoph Waltz has arrived and is blown away by his first Oscars. He calls being cast by Quentin Tarantino one of the most flattering things that has ever happened to him.

  • 3:48 PM: The Hurt Locker Best Actor nominee Jeremy Renner has brought his mother Valerie to the Oscars. He says the only other thing he would've wanted to bring is "a shotgun." Valerie describes Jeremy as "a wonderful boy." He gives a shoutout to members of the military who are watching the show, saying he appreciates their service.

  • 3:45 PM: Sigourney Weaver from Avatar has arrived. She's in a red sash-like dress.

Sigourney Weaver wore a red sash-like gown and said she was always happy to talk about Avatar. She had worked with director James Cameron in the past on Aliens.

Mo'Nique, in an elegant blue gown, describes the experience of being nominated as "precious," and her husband Sidney admires all the wonderful places she has brought him.

Saldana, best known as one of the Na'vi from Avatar, appeared in a purple blouse with a glittering bodice. The skirt reached down to the red carpet in a floral pattern.

James Cameron says he's flattered by the international reaction to his film Avatar and feels that the fact that people want to see it multiple times is a tribute to the fact that they've been touched by the movie.

  • 3:39 PM: Monique, nominated for Supporting Actress for Precious, has arrived. She's in blue and describes the experience of her nomination as "precious."

  • 3:32 PM: James Cameron's wife Suzie created an environmental school and is talking about it. Cameron says that he's flattered that people want to see Avatar multiple times. He thinks when people see a movie once, it's just a tribute to the marketing campaign.

  • 3:31 PM: Zoe Saldana of Avatar is no longer in blue. She's wearing a lavender skirt reaching all the way down to the carpet, with a beaded strapless bodice.

  • 3:16 PM: Avatar star Sam Worthington is being interviewed. He says he's been hyped so much because of the film that he's "sick of myself."

  • 3:12 PM: It's raining on the red carpet.

  • 8:06 PM: Taraji Henson is so excited to be an the event. While picking an Oscar dress, she had designers and jewelers begging for her to wear their clothes and jewelry
  • 7:55 PM: The Red Carpet comes to a close and Oscars 2009 begins!
  • 7:52 PM: Meryl Streep just got cornered by the Slumdog Millionaire kids for her autograph
  • 7:45 PM: Kate Winslet has arrived wearing a pewter colored gown with black trim.
  • 7:43 PM: Marion Cotillard is talking with Ryan Seacrest. She's a huge fan of Cruz and called her performance in Vicky Cristina "amazing." She'll be in the new Michael Mann film, Public Enemies.
  • 7:42 PM: Philip Seymour Hoffman has arrived, wearing a peculiar black hat. Maybe he is serious about taking that role as The Penguin.
  • 7:38 PM: OMG! Brangelina has made an appearance!
  • 7:36 PM: Wall-E director Andrew Stanton is very excited to be on the red carpet.
  • 7:32 PM: Anne Hathaway is wearing a jewel-encrusted white gown with scaling.
  • 7:31 PM: Queen Latifah is mocking how many shows Ryan Seacrest appears on. She'll be singing a song dedicated to all those who died in 2008.
  • 7:29 PM: Seacrest is talking to Diane Lane and Josh Brolin.
  • 7:29 PM: Queen Latifah has arrived. She will perform at the ceremony.
  • 7:27 PM: Rourke has never been to the Oscars before. He's wearing what he describes as his version of a tux, which was put together for him by Jean-Paul Gaultier. He's wearing a necklace dedicated to his recently-departed dog. He would have rather had the dog another two years than an Oscar. He says he'll be happy if Sean Penn wins.

  • 7:19 PM: Seth Rogen is upset about having to follow Sarah Jessica Parker. Seacrest notes that he's looking thinner. Rogen says he lost the weight for a role, and isn't sure whether or not he'll get fat again once the movie's done filming. He's currently working with Judd Apatow on another collaboration, and encourages people to watch the Funny People trailer.

  • 7:17 PM: James Franco from multiple nominee Milk has arrived.
  • 7:14 PM: Amy Adams is talking to Seacrest about Doubt and working with Meryl Streep. now she's discussing Enchanted, for which teenage girls idolize her.

  • 7:12 PM: Amy Adams is wearing red as well. Usually, stars shy away from red at red carpet events, but not this year.
  • 7:10 PM: Mickey Rourke, a favorite in the Best Actor category for The Wrestler, has arrived. He's wearing a white suit.
  • 7:10 PM: Seth Rogen, who did a voice for Kung Fu Panda, a nominee for Best Animated Feature, has arrived.
  • 7:09 PM: Seacrest talks to Michael Sheen, who will sit next to David Frost during the show, the man he played in Frost/Nixon. He did "far too much" research for the part, he says.
  • 7:06 PM: Joey Fatone is getting sassy because someone else's cameraman keeps bumping into him. "I'm getting the crap beat out of me by a camera, I might punch this guy out in about two seconds". Lisa Rinna has to remind him they are on live television.
  • 7:05 PM: Seacrest is now talking to Seal and Heidi Klum. Klum's dress will require her to sit on "just one cheek" all night.
  • 7:00 PM: Heidi Klum is wearing a vibrant red dress.
  • 6:56 PM Slumdog director Danny Boyle, a nominee for Best Director, has brought many members of the cast to the event He says they were all treated as equals, which is kind of an odd thing to say. He says that Dev Patel, like his character, is underestimated but proved himself to be "a hero." Boyle's daughter recommended Patel to her father.
  • 6:55 PM: Seacrest talks with Melissa Leo, a nominee for Best Actress.
  • 6:52 PM: Freida Pinto was excited to meet Angelina Jolie at the SAG Awards a few weeks back. She will not really confirm or deny whether or not she's dating her co-star from Slumdog as has been rumored.
  • 6:49 PM: Taraji Henson has arrived. She's wearing a layered cream-colored gown.
  • 6:47 PM: Virginia Madsen arrives with Eddie Mills and tells Lisa Rinna and Joey Fatone that her next film, The Haunting in Connecticut will come out soon.
  • 6:40 PM: Anthony Hopkins says this is his 100th time at the Academy Awards. He confirms he has taken a role in an upcoming Woody Allen film.
  • 6:37 PM: Tonight's show will feature unannounced stars who aren't even walking the Red Carpet. Previous Oscar winners will come out and announce the nominees "very dramatically."
  • 6:35 PM: Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates have arrived. They are involved in the ceremony in some way, but won't specify. They both enjoyed Slumdog. They're also praising Hugh Jackman's hosting skills. Big American Idol fans, they're rooting for Danny Gokey.
  • 6:21 PM: Jackman will pat his chest during the show as a message to his wife.
  • 6:21 PM: Jackman wants the show to feel spontaneous, like a party.
  • 6:18 PM: Hugh Jackman is already inside the theater, preparing. He had a few drinks earlier in the day, to calm his nerves. He's previously hosted the Tony Awards, but calls the Oscars "the Tonys on steroids."
  • 6:00 PM: Red carpet arrivals are about to begin.
