Oscar De La Hoya is a professional boxer and promoter. He was beaten on December 6, 2008, by Manny Pacquiao in an eighth-round technical knockout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oscar De La Hoya was born in East Los Angeles on February 4, 1973. In 1992 at the Barcelona Olympic games, he won the gold medal in the lightweight division. After the Olympics, De La Hoya turned pro on November 23, 1992. -
Career Highlights
Throughout his career in Boxing, De La Hoya has defeated several big name opponents. On June 7, 1996, De La Hoya defeated the boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez in three rounds by technical knockout. His next big victory was against Pernell Whitaker on April 12, 1997. De La Hoya won that bout by unanimous decision in the 12th round. A rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez took place on September 9, 1998, De La Hoya would emerge victorious again, winning by TKO in the eighth round. Notable Defeats
Although De La Hoya has defeated several boxing legends, he has also lost to several big names in the sport. On September 18, 1999, he lost a majority decision to Felix Trinidad. Then he lost twice to Shane Mosley in 2000 and 2003. On September 18, 2004, De La Hoya fought champion Bernard Hopkins and lost by knockout in the ninth round.
