Ornette Coleman is an pioneer of avant-garde jazz. In 1960, he released an album called Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation which gave birth to the Free Jazz genre. Free Jazz is disposes of traditional fixed chord changes and tempos. Instead, musicians play off of the the mood of the pieces theme. -
