Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 43rd round of the 1997 amateur draft, Orlando Hudson appeared in his first major league game in 2002. Known more for his glove than for his bat, Hudson played his first full season in 2003 for the Jays, hitting a respectable .268. In 2005, Hudson won his first Gold Glove Award and was traded to the Diamondbacks After the 2005, Hudson was traded to the Diamondbacks in a deal that sent Troy Claus to Toronto. In every year, Hudson upped his average, and in 2007, the young second baseman was named to his first All-Star squad. Hudson finished the season with an excellent .294 average.
