    Orlando Luis Cabrera was born in Cartagena, Colombia, on November 2, 1974. He would make his major league debut on September 3, 1997, with the Montreal Expos. Cabrera quickly established himself as one of the premiere shortstops in baseball. He would win the Gold Glove award in 2001 and also, in 2003, establish himself as consistent hitter, setting the franchise record of the Expos in home runs in a season with 17. In 2004, Cabrera would be traded to the Boston Red Sox, the move would solidify the Red Sox defense and spur the team on to World Series title in 2004. In 2005, Cabrera continued to play as member of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He would earn another Gold Glove in 2007. On November 19, 2007, Cabrera was traded to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations and starting pitcher Jon Garland.
