University History
The school was first incorporated in 1858 as Corvallis College. Originally a private academy, the school added college level courses in 1865. It was designated the Agricultural College of the state of Oregon in 1968. The college went through several other name changes in the years since, settling on Oregon State University in 1937.Notable Alumni
