Minor earthquakes are common off the coast of Oregon. An earthquake of less than 6.0 on the richter scale hit off the coast on March 15, 2008, without incident. The epicenter was 112 miles off the coast, at a depth of 6.2 miles. No Tsunami warnings were issued.

- 1941: Magnitude 7.0, 8 deaths, $25 million damage
- 1957: Felt over a wide area, no damage
- 1961: 4.5 quake
- 1968: series of quakes, daily , from May 26 through June 11
- 1993: "Scotts Mills earthquake", a 5.6 quake with 200 aftershocks
