Oprah Winfrey shut down the "Magnificient Mile" on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, to tape the premiere episode of the 24th season of The Oprah Winfrey Show on September 8, 2009.
Tickets for the taping were free but only a certain number were available on a first-come, first-served basis. The show features live music and appearances by Jennifer Hudson and the Black Eyed Peas.
