Kevin Costner directed, co-produced and starred in the 2003 Western movie Open Range. The film is set in the western United States in the 1880s and also stars Robert Duvall, Annette Bening and Michael Gambon.
Plot Summary

Four cattle ranchers enjoy their lives roaming with their herds on the open plains. When their travels lead them near the town of Harmonville, a community filled with corruption and governed by tyrannical leaders, the ranchers find themselves fighting for the freedom they had previously enjoyed.
