Onion News Network

The Onion News Network is a fake news video podcast from the creators of the humorous newspaper The Onion. The website was launched in March 2007, though The Onion has been producing a daily web video podcast since mid-2006. According to The Wall Street Journal, The Onion has invested $1 million into the spin-off website and has hired 15 additional staff to write for it.The Wall Street Journal: Press 'Play' for Satire (March 23, 2007)

Fictional History

The Onion News Network was established by Onion founder and president T. Herman Zweibel when he purchased the company's first radio tower in 1882. Its first newsreel came out in 1889 and in 1953, The Onion came to television, with the airing of The Onion News at Five. The network shifted to 24-hour all-news programming in 1982.
