Om Puri is an Indian actor who has appeared in over 140 films and has more recently caught the attention of Western audiences with his performances in My Son the Fanatic and East is East. He also appears alongside Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War, which was released in late 2007.

Om Puri was born in Amabala, Punjab, India. He attended the Film and Television Institute of India as well as the National School Drama, where Naseeruddin Shah was his classmate.
