• Brief Background

  Om Puri was born in Amabala, Punjab, India. He attended the Film and Television Institute of India as well as the National School Drama, where Naseeruddin Shah was his classmate.

  He had his film debut with [[Ghashiram Kotwal] in 1976 and has since gone on to star in a number of Indian films in both the parallel cinema world as well the world of mainstream Bollywood films.

  He also also starred in such British and American productions as East is East and Charlie Wilson's War.
