Om Puri is an Indian actor who has appeared in over 140 films and has more recently caught the attention of Western audiences with his performances in My Son the Fanatic and East is East. He also appears alongside Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War, which was released in late 2007.

Brief Background
Om Puri was born in Amabala, Punjab, India. He attended the Film and Television Institute of India as well as the National School Drama, where Naseeruddin Shah was his classmate.He had his film debut with [[Ghashiram Kotwal] in 1976 and has since gone on to star in a number of Indian films in both the parallel cinema world as well the world of mainstream Bollywood films.
He also also starred in such British and American productions as East is East and Charlie Wilson's War.
