In Beijing, taekwondo contests were held from August 20 to August 23, 2008, at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium.

A Korean martial art noted for its kick movements, taekwondo appeared as an exhibition sport at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
