Due to the protests and controversy that have surrounded the 2008 Olympic torch rally, many of the game's corporate sponsors have begun to question whether the benefits of advertising at the Olympics outweigh the bad publicity and negative public exposure that the protests have caused. While no official boycott has been announced, there have been threats from human rights groups and citizens about the possibility of a boycott of the sponsor's products if they continue their support for the Olympics.
