Olympic snowboarding is held every four years at the Winter Olympics. There are six competitions in Olympic snowboarding. The six competitions consist of men's and women's half pipe, parallel giant slalom, and snowboard cross.http://www.nbcolympics.com/snowboarding/index.html
Background
Olympic snowboarding competitions were introduced in 1998 at the Olympic games held in Nagano, Japan. The parallel giant slalom is a giant downhill race that was introduced to the competition in 2002.http://library.thinkquest.org/3885/olympics.html This replaced two separate giant downhill events that were originally held at the first snowboarding event in Nagano.
