Olympic Skeleton

Olympic skeleton is a downhill ice sled race where the athlete races in a head first position. It is held every four years at the Winter Olympics. Olympic Skeleton was introduced in the 1928 games at Saint Moritz, Switzerland. The event was not held at the Olympics again until the 1948 Winter Olympics held at the same location. Skeleton would not take place in the Olympics again until the 2002 games at Salt Lake City, Utah.

Skeleton got its name from the shape of the original sled that was used in the late 1800's. The frame of the sled was said to have resembled a skeleton.
