The Olympic Bobsleigh is a part of the Winter Olympics, which has taken place every four years since 1924. There are three events in the Olympic Bobsleigh competition; the four-man event, two-man event and the two-woman event. So far Switzerland has won the most medals since 1924 with a total of 30, almost twice as many as the United States who has won 18 medals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobsleigh_at_the_Winter_Olympics

Background
In 1960 there was no competition in bobsleigh at the Olympics because the host country wanted to reduce expenses and therefore didn't build a track. In the beginning it was only a man's competition, it wasn't until 2002 that the two-woman event was added to the program of the Winter Olympics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobsleigh_at_the_Winter_Olympics
