  • Finnish professional hockey player Olli Jokinen plays for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League.   • NHL Career

    Jokinen was drafted third overall in the 1997 NHL draft by the Los Angeles Kings. After playing two seasons in Los Angeles, Jokinen was traded to the New York Islanders on June 20, 1999. Just over a year later, he was traded again, this time going to the Florida Panthers on June 24, 2000. During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Jokinen played for the Sodertalje SK in Sweden, the EHC Kloten in Swtizerland and the HIFK Helsinki in Finland. He served as captain of the Panthers until June 20, 2008, when he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he served for less then 1 season before being traded to the Calgary Flames on March 4, 2009.

  • Zednik Incident

    On February 10, 2008, Jokinen's skate sliced the neck of Panthers teammate Richard Zednik. Zednik was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair the laceration. Although out for the remainder of the 2007-08 season, Zednik fully recovered from the injury.
