In April 2006, the website Socialite Rank published an email, allegedly from Palermo, which was supposedly sent to 70 New York socialites. The email began,"I know I have gotten off on the wrong foot with many of you and there may even be some of you that do not like me..."., and went on to plead for social acceptance.
