  • Bedlam

The chief rival of the Cowboys is the Oklahoma Sooners, and the name for their rivalry series is simply known as "bedlam." The two best players in school history actually played there together. Thurman Thomas was a star halfback for the team in 1987, and was a Heisman Trophy candidate, before being drafted by the Buffalo Bills. The player who was a backup to Thomas that season became the starter in 1988. Thomas' replacement, Barry Sanders, set college football records for yards rushing and touchdowns and won the Heisman Trophy.
