Ohio University is a four-year public institution of higher learning located in Athens, Ohio. The university is the oldest in Ohio and serves nearly 17,000 students annually.Official Site: Just the Facts

The school was originally founded in 1804 as American Western University and conducted its first classes in 1808. Ohio University went through a re-organization in the 1840s and has continued to grow in the decades since. In 2007, the school opened the John Calhoun Baker Center, a $65 million student facility.
