Overview
The 17th state admitted to the Union, Ohio is located in the Midwestern United States and was the country's seventh-largest state in population as of 2007. Much of the northern part of Ohio is bordered by Lake Erie, and the entire southern part of the state touches the Ohio River. Major cities include state capital Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati. Ohio is nicknamed "the birthplace of aviation" due to the Wright Brothers' experiments in Dayton.
