Octopussy

-->
  • The action-adventure Octopussy was the 13th film in the James Bond series starring Roger Moore as James Bond.

    Star Roger Moore had been reluctant to return to the Bond role, and the actor James Brolin was tested for the role of Bond in Octopussy. But, fearing competition over the Bond franchise from the film Never Say Never Again, the producers contacted Moore, an established Bond, and asked him to assume the role, which he did.

    The producers were also hesitant to cast Maud Adams as Octopussy because she had appeared as the character Andrea Anders in the Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun.

    The film's title is taken from the Ian Fleming short story collection Octopussy and The Living Daylights. There is, however, little resemblance between the Octopussy short story and the film, which concerns stolen Russian relics and a plot to disarm Europe through the use of a nuclear weapon.

    The film's theme song "All Time High," sung by Rita Coolidge, is only one of four Bond themes not to refer to the film's title in its lyrics.
