Oceanography is the study of the Earth's oceans and seas and involves biology, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and physics.

Glossary

  1. Seawater: Typically refers to the salinous water found in most of the world's oceans and seas
  2. Deep Sea: The layer of the ocean closest to the floor where very little to no light reaches
  3. Tide: The cyclical process of rise and fall of the ocean's surface caused by the gravitational pull of the Moon
  4. Marine Biology: The study of life that lives primarily in water
  5. Ocean Current: Streams of water that move within oceans due to gravity, weather and the Earth's rotation
