Obie Wilchcombe

  • Obie Wilchcombe is a Bahamian politician and one of three people detained in connection with a plot to extort $20 million from John Travolta and Kelly Preston after the death of their son, Jett, on January 2, 2009. Wilchcombe and two others, Senator Pleasant Bridgewater and ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne, were brought in for questioning on January 23, 2009.   • Extortion Plot

    Though the exact details of the extortion plot have not been revealed, some sources are suggesting that it may be over a cell phone photo taken of Jett Travolta in the back of an ambulance. According to Bahamas News Center, one of the paramedics attempting to revive Jett after his fatal seizure on January 2, 2009 snapped a photo of the boy as he lay dying. The paramedic, along with an unnamed politician, then allegedly contacted the Travoltas to extort money from them in return for not selling the photo to various media outlets.Bahamas News Center: Travolta Extortion Plot...
