He had previously released his 2006 information, and called on Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to do so as well. Barack and Michele Obama reported adjusted gross income ranging from $200,000-$275,000 between 2000 and 2004, when he was elected to the U.S. Senate. In 2005, Obama's first year as a Senator, their income increased dramatically, because of $1.2 million received from the reissue of Dreams From My Father. Between 2000 and 2004, the Obamas adjusted gross income was between $207,000 and just over $275,000 per year.
