During the 2008 election, Internet rumors suggested that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, instead of Hawaii. In one version of the rumor, Obama's birth certificate is being hidden because his middle name is Mohammed. According to missionary Loren Davis and his wife Celeste, while working in Kenya they were told that Obama's middle name was Mohammed. Real Name: Barry?
Another version of the rumor claims that Obama's mother did not name him after his father, but instead named him Barry. Born in Kenya?
In 2007, rumors began that Obama was born in Kenya, and may not legally be a natural-born citizen. As pointed out in the National Review, if this is true then Obama and his relatives have been lying about his birthplace for most of his life. All official accounts point to Obama's birth taking place in Hawaii, one of the 50 United States.
Released Birth Certificate
A copy of Barack Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate was released during the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Non-partisan group FactCheck.org had access to the original and it included all the elements of a Hawaiian birth certificate circa 1961.
