On the afternoon of August 23, 2008, Barack Obama made his first joint appearance with running mate Joe Biden in a venue of special significance to the candidate. The Obama-Biden ticket debuted at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where Obama first announced that he would run for the presidency on February 10, 2007.
Obama and Biden will not appear onstage together again until they are introduced as the Democratic nominees for the White House at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado, on August 29.
