The Oakland Raiders are a professional football team that plays in the West Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League. Cable was fired after the season and replaced with Hue Jackson. Oakland Raiders History
After the team was founded as part of the American Football League in 1960, the Oakland Raiders won their first championship in the AFL in 1967. One year later, the Raiders appeared in Super Bowl II which was lost to the Green Bay Packers. In 1969, John Madden was hired to coach the team and retained as the American Football League merged with the National Football League in 1970. Madden led the Raiders to their first Super Bowl win in 1977 by defeating the Minnesota Vikings. Despite losing Madden to retirement the next year, the Raiders returned to win Super Bowl XV in 1981 over the Philadelphia Eagles.http://www.raiders.com/history/timeline.html
After a move to Los Angeles, California, the Raiders won Super Bowl XVIII in 1984 over the Washington Redskins.
