About Nyquil
Nyquil was first test marketed in the U.S. in 1966. At the time, only the liquid version was available. The Nyquil name is believed by some to be derived from the phrase "nighttime tranquility." Cherry-flavored Nyquil was introduced in 1987, offering an alternative for those who didn't like the taste of the original liquid Nyquil. For more than two decades, Nyquil was only available in liquid form. In 1991, Vicks introduced Nyquil LiquiCaps. The LiquiCaps marked the first time an over-the-counter liquid medicine was offered in a capsule form. In 2006, Vicks began offering Nyquil Sinus - a product specifically formulated to relieve sinus headache, pressure and congestion.http://www.vicks.com/about/
Nyquil Commercial
This video is a vintage commercial for Nyquil starring Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane. In the clip, Lane's character goes door to door asking neighbors to borrow a cup of Nyquil so he can rest despite his cold. Vicks first began airing television commercials for Nyquil Liquid with the famed tag line "The nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, so you can rest medicine" in the late 1970s.
