New York City Waterfalls is a temporary art project designed by Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. It consists of four 90- to 120-foot free-standing cascades placed in New York's East River and Harbor.
Eliasson's Vision
Eliasson says that he wants to call attention to the river and harbor of New York, which he views as being dwarfed by the metropolis's skyscrapers and bridges. The New York Times: Waterfalls Display Opens on Harbor (June 26, 2008)
