Emmy award-winner Edie Falco, (The Sopranos) stars as Nurse Jackie in the Showtime series. The show's tagline "walking the line between saint and sinner", illustrates the challenges Jackie faces as a drug addicted ER nurse in a busy New York City hospital. The half hour show features Falco dealing with the stresses of the ER and home life. In the first year eligible for Emmy awards, Nurse Jackie garnered 8 nominations for 2010. Edie Falco took the top honors as the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Falco made history by being the first actress to ever be named Lead Actress in two different categories as she previously won the award in the Drama category for her performances on The Sopranos. The show was also nominated for Best Comedy Series.

At this point in her career, Edie Falco could play a character who doesn't speak or move and astute television lovers would still tune in. She's that great. I (a) am not subscribing to Showtime... I am so sick, and so tired, of stupid media portrayals of nurses. Didn’t watch ER. No Grey’s Anatomy. Won’t watch House. Here goes trying to explain to my patients, again, that "no, I don’t watch that show because of the portrayal of nursing...'No matter how funny, how dramatic or how well written Nurse Jackie is, you are doing nothing to advance or promote the nursing profession.
