Numair Faraz

Numair Faraz is a one-time adviser to the late Geoffrey Frost, former Chief Marketing Officer for Motorola. An open letter written by Faraz to the company's current CEO, Greg Brown, was posted on Engadget, March 26, 2008. In it, Faraz criticizes what he sees as the negligence and excesses of Motorola's current and former management. The letter takes to task Brown's predecessor, Ed Zander, for practices leading to the decline and subsequent breakup of Motorola. His complaints include that Zander both rested on his laurels in the wake of the RAZR phone's success, and put undue pressure on Frost that may have led to his death at age 55. According to the letter, Faraz had tried to push Zander into developing social networking devices, but that the former CEO was preoccupied with the ill-fated ROKR E2 multimedia phone. The ROKR E2 was designed to sync with iTunes, but Apple has since revoked its support of the device, rendering it incompatible.
