- 2000: The Florida Supreme Court grants Al Gore's request to continue with a recount of the Election Results. However days later The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear George W. Bush's appeal of the Florida high court ruling allowing hand recounts to proceed.

1980: The largest disaster in Nevada history takes places after the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas catches on fire, 87 people died in the disaster.
