Notify New York is an emergency alert system built to efficiently warn residents and businesses about emergencies by email, text message and telephone . Emergency Alert System
The Notify New York program will use email, text message and phone calls to alert enrolled residences and businesses to emergencies in their area or city-wide. Similar programs, often called 'reverse 911' programs, have been established successfully in many communities including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Madison, Wisconsin; Wilmington, Delaware; and San Diego, California. City-wide alerts will be reserved for life-threatening events such as AMBER reports, natural disasters and, of course, terrorist attacks if they occur.
