Nortriptyline is a second generation Tricyclic Antidepressant (TCA) . It is used in the treatment of depression and bed wetting.

Fast Facts:
- Brand Names: Aventyl, Pamelor, Nortrilen
- Other Uses: Chronic Pain, Migraine, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Smoking Cessation, Shingles
- Works on the neurotrasmitters, serotonin and norepinephrine
- Has fewer side effects than first generation Tricyclic Antidepressants, such as Amitriptyline
- Common Side Effects: Dry mouth, drowsiness, orthostatic hypotension, urinary retention, constipation, and rapid or irregular heartbeat.
- Do not consume alcohol while taking this drug
