Northern Michigan University

Northern Michigan University is a public university located in Michigan's upper peninsula. The school's sports teams are part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The school was founded and opened in 1899. The original class had 32 students, who studied teaching exclusively. The school has grown over the past century, and added several programs in the 1960s including business, arts and science.
