Critical Reception
Being Austen's novel to be sold for publication, Northanger Abbey was sold to Crosbie & Co for £10. It was left on Crosbie & Co shelves, while four other Austen novels were published. Henry Austen bought it back for £10, and it became the first of Austen's novels to have her name in print as the author. -
