Canadian actor and comedian Norm MacDonald anchored Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update from late 1993-1997, slurring his tagline "Now the fake news" for millions of viewers. MacDonald also has been cited as one of the best celebrity impersonators, having done Burt Reynolds, Bob Dole, Quentin Tarantino, David Letterman, Clint Eastwood, Larry King, and more.
NBC West Coast Executive Don Ohlmeyer fired MacDonald from the cast, saying he was "not funny." Ohlmeyer was friends with O.J. Simpson and MacDonald made fun of him at every turn, sparking rumors this was the reason Ohlmeyer wanted him fired. Ohlmeyer denies this statement.
MacDonald went to to act in small guest spots for television and film, including Family Guy, Doctor Dolittle, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, and more.
