Norbit

Norbit is a film about a mild-mannered man named Norbit who meets the woman of his dreams, but his tyrant of a wife stands in the way of his happiness.

• Norbit was directed by Brian Robbins who previously directed the films Ready to Rumble, The Perfect Score with Scarlett Johansson, and The Shaggy Dog starring Tim Allen. The film opened to extremely negative reviews. It was widely regarded as one of the worst films of 2007 earning 8 nominations from the Razzie Awards. It was especially noted for it's poor timing for being released during awards season, when Murphy was nominated for his first Oscar for the film Dreamgirls. Murphy ultimately lost the Oscar to Alan Arkin. The film was also slammed for it's offensive negative racial portrayals of overweight african American woman, Chinese-Americans and the African American community in general. The movie would earn $95,323,496 at the United States Box Office.
