NORAD runs a popular Santa tracker. It began after a misprint in an article asking children to call in asking where Santa was at the moment. After receiving a few calls, the workers were told to give the children information on Santa's journey. NORAD officially began the Santa tracking program in 1958, three years after the phone calls began.
[NORAD: About NORAD] They begin their countdown 24 days before
Christmas with updates on what Santa and his elves are doing in preparation for the holiday. On Christmas Eve, the site allows Santa to be tracked around the world as he delivers gifts. NORAD teams up with the
Google Earth application to allow a more realistic experience to share with your friends and family.
[PC Mike: Norad Santa Tracker (December 21, 2007)] In 2006, the NORAD Santa tracker received almost 1 billion web hits from 210 different countries.
