• This page contains a full walkthrough of the frenetic third-person action game No More Heroes. Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii on January 22, 2008, this free roaming game requires the player to find and kill the world's top ten assassins. Our game guide has tips for each of the missions, in addition to strategies for boss fights. Below the main text walkthrough we have included links to other walkthroughs, faqs and videos. Use the table of contents to jump to a particular section.

  • Background

    In No More Heroes, the player takes control of Travis Touchdown. Travis is a twenty-something otaku who, after winning a lightsaber in an online auction, sets out to become the number one assassin in the United States. To accomplish this goal, he must eliminate the nation's top ten assassins with the help of a sultry French vixen named Silvia. In the meantime, Travis must earn money by taking odd jobs and assassination gigs around the surreal city of Santa Destroy, California. The game is designer Suda 51's second major release in North America. It retains many of the eccentric elements of its predecessor Killer 7, which was released for the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2 in 2005. (Note that No More Heroes is not a sequel). While Killer 7 featured a hefty dose of political commentary, No More Heroes focuses on social satire. It also parodies popular video games, movies, and Japanese pop culture.

  • General Information - Locations

      • Half of No More Heroes takes place in the open urban environment of Santa Destroy. Much like Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto IV, the player must navigate between locations in Santa Destroy to access missions. Here is a list of important locations around the city, their functions, and how each appears on the map:
    1. Motel: Travis's home. You can save the game here at any time by using the toilet. Travis can also change clothes via the closet in his bedroom and use the TV to watch videos from Beefhead. The motel appears on the map as a blue house.
    2. ATM: Travis deposits a specified amount of money in the ATM in order to gain entry to ranked missions. It appears as a dollar sign ($) on the map.
    3. Job Center: You can find and accept part-time jobs via the bulletin board inside the Job Center. New jobs appear after each ranked mission. The pink icon on the map represents the Job Center.
    4. K-Entertainment: Travis can find assassination jobs by scrolling through the logbook found here. New assassinations become available after you complete part-time jobs at the Job Center. A skull on the map represents k-Entertainment.
    5. Naomi's Lab: Naomi will sell you new swords and accessories. Her lab appears as a blue sword on the map.
    6. Thunder Ryu: This is a gym where Travis can train to increase his stats. It appears as a Japanese character on the map. You can workout after each ranked mission, but the prices for each exercise increase with every successive use. The three workouts and their benefits are as follows:
      • Dumbbells: Increases the length of Travis's light saber combo.
        Bench Press: Increases Travis's strength.
        Squats: Increases Travis's vitality (health).
    7. Beefhead Video: Here Travis can buy videos to watch on the TV in his motel room. He will learn new wrestling moves from watching these videos. The store is represented on the map by a pair of cattle horns.
    8. Gold Town: This bar is located in the alley behind Thunder Ryu. It appears as a beer mug on the map. Inside is a Russian named Lovikov. He asks Travis to find red Lovikov balls scattered around Santa Destroy. You can tell when you are getting close to one when you hear a humming sound. Return seven balls to Lovikov and he will teach you new techniques. They are as follows:
      • Memory of Three: Allows you to see enemies on the map.
        Memory of Demon: You can perform a jumping slash by shaking the nunchuck.
        Memory of Child: You can perform a dash while not fighting by pressing B.
        Memory of Women: Dark Side abilities last longer.
        Memory of Mask: Increases your range for throws.
        Memory of Tattoo: You earn monetary bonuses from your chain combos.
        Memory of White: Enables you to perform a jumping down attack.
    9. Area 51: A shop where you can buy Travis new clothes. It appears as a white shirt on the map.
    10. Free Fight Missions: These missions appear as blue M's on the map. In these missions you must kill a small amount of enemies while not suffering any damage. This task is usually much easier said than done. Travis receives large cash bonuses upon the completion of these missions.

  • Santa Destroy Tips

    1. The assassination missions you find at K-Entertainment generally pay better than the part-time jobs obtained through the Job Center.
    2. Visit Thunder Ryu's gym between each ranked mission. Complete the workouts to increase your vitality and strength. Maintaining a high vitality is important since bosses' attacks can drain Travis's health rather quickly.
    3. Periodically stop by Naomi's Lab to see what new items she has in stock. You need to buy each of the three swords she sells to view the real ending of the game. These swords become available to purchase at specific points in the story. Read the walkthrough below for more information.
    4. Renting videos at Beefhead and learning techniques at Gold Town are both purely optional activities. Neither is crucial to beating the game.
    5. Clothes do not alter Travis's stats in any way. In short, don't waste your money at Area 51.

  • Mission Tips

    1. Master the Dark Step technique. When locked onto an opponent, block and wait for them to attack. Now wiggle the analog stick left and right. Travis will parry to the side of the enemy and the screen will grow dark. From here you can attack the enemy in slow motion until he or she recovers. The Dark Step is especially useful during boss battles.
    2. Always keep an eye on your light saber's battery power. Travis is helpless if it runs out of energy. If necessary, do not hesitate to run away from enemies to charge the light saber manually. Blocking powerful attacks (especially bullets) will rapidly drain your light saber's energy.
    3. Often you will encounter enemies clustered in groups. To avoid being overwhelmed walk just far enough forward so that only one or two enemies notice you at a time.
    4. Outright aggression is not the best technique to defeat bosses. With a few exceptions the best strategy is to wait for them to attack, Dark Step/dodge, and then retaliate. It is advantageous to stay locked on the bosses at all times by holding the Z button.
    5. There will be a pink box of health and blue box of batteries available during each boss fight. These are the only boosts you get during these battles so use them sparingly.
    6. You can find 50 Trading Cards during your first time playing through the game. There are five in each mission. The more you collect, the more masks appear in Travis's room. You can find more cards by playing the game a second time. The second set unlocks concept art you can view in Travis's room. Any cards you may have missed in previous games can be found during subsequent play-throughs.

  • Dark Side

      • When Travis finishes an opponent, slots will appear and begin tumbling at the bottom of the screen. If Travis receives three symbols of any type then he temporarily enters Dark Side mode. Travis is invincible in this mode and can quickly kill multiple enemies. The tiger at the top of the screen indicates the length of the effect. The type of Dark Side ability depends upon the symbol. They are as follows:
    1. Cherries: This ability can be best described as a prolonged Dark Step. The screen turns black and everything moves in slow motion. Enemies are helpless against your attacks.
    2. Bells: The screen turns black and white except for an orange target in the middle. Line up enemies with the target for instant kills.
    3. Bar: The screen turns black and white. Walk up to enemies and press the indicated button to perform an instant kill.
    4. Green Fire: Travis's light saber surges with electricity. Attack an enemy and the game will prompt you to rotate the Wii remote 360 degrees to perform an instant kill.
    5. Seven: This is the most rare of the Dark Side abilities. The power will not activate right away. Instead you can use it at any time by pressing the - button. It will kill all the enemies on the screen. You can only use this ability during the mission in which you obtain it. Sorry, but it doesn't work on bosses.

  • No More Heroes Walkthrough

    1. While much of No More Heroes takes place in an open world, the path to each ranked mission is linear and repetitive in nature. The game deposits Travis back into his motel room at the end of each mission. From here Travis must complete a series of tasks around Santa Destroy to continue. Generally speaking they are as follows:
    2. Travis receives information (usually via fax) that details how much money he needs to unlock the next ranked mission.
    3. Earn the proper amount of money by taking jobs at the Job Center or completing assassination missions at K-Entertainment.
    4. Deposit the money in the ATM.
    5. Drive back to the motel to discover the location of the mission.
    6. NOTE: Except where necessary this walkthrough focuses on the ranked missions. For the sake of brevity, it assumes you earned the necessary amount of money to proceed to the next mission.

  • Rank 10

    1. Walk downstairs from you motel room into the parking lot below.
    2. After the cut-scene Travis will be standing in front of a hallway with a set of stairs to either side. You can't go into the hallway yet. Enemies will run down the stairs and attack. Kill them and proceed through the door at the top of the stairs. Walk into the room directly ahead.
    3. NOTE: When you first enter this area, the game will ask if you want to enter tutorial mode. It is highly recommended that you do so. No More Heroes features a number of intricate fighting mechanics that are best explained in this manner.
    4. This new room will have a spa at its center. The door will close behind you. Defeat all the enemies in the room and the door will re-open. Once it does, walk out the door and proceed through the hallway to the right.
    5. Keep running down the hall until you get to a staircase. Walk up the stairs.
    6. Once upstairs, run forward and take the second left. Destroy the treasure chest you find here to collect Trading Card No. 1 from inside. Walk through the nearby open doorway.
    7. The doors will shut, sealing you in the room. Defeat all the enemies that appear. Once you do the doors will re-open. Collect Trading Card No. 2 from the treasure chest in front of the desk. Exit the room.
    8. You will wind up back in the hallway you were in before. Walk down the stairs. Move forward through the hallway and kill the enemies that attack. When they are all dead, the double doors you walked through earlier will open. Go through them again.
    9. You will now be back at the top of the stairs in the room where you first started the level. Walk downstairs and you'll notice the hallway you saw earlier is now accessible. Walk into the hall and kill the four enemies within. Proceed into the Exclamation Point that appears.
    10. You are now in a large room full of columns. Kill all the enemies. A gate will open to the left of where you started. Before walking through it, break open the treasure chest in the northwest corner of the room to find Trading Card No. 3.
    11. Once you exit the large room, look left to find Trading Card No. 4 in a nearby treasure chest. Next, follow the outdoor path on your right to its end. Along the way you will encounter several guards you need to dispatch, some of whom have guns. You can block these bullets with your light saber. Simply wait for them to stop firing and then run them through. Proceed into the Exclamation Point at the end of the walkway.
    12. Walk forward through the hall and take the first right into a larger area. Silvia will call and begin talking. When she's done, save your game at the large S icon at the end of the room. There are also boxes of health, extra batteries, and a wrestler's mask (another Suda 51 staple) with a note inside. Read the note to learn a new wrestling move. Open the treasure chest to find Trading Card No. 5. Walk into the Exclamation point.
    13. NOTE: There is a save point before each boss. For the remainder of this walkthrough, this area will be called the Save Area. With a few exceptions these areas will contain the following elements: a save point, boxes of health and batteries, and a wrestler's mask.
    14. TIP: Collect the health from the pink box and then save your game. When you emerge from the toilet a new box will be waiting for you. This technique is helpful later in the game when you are running low on health and one box doesn't give you enough energy.

  • Boss - Death Metal

    1. The best tactic with Death Metal, as with most bosses, is to wait for him to attack, dodge, and then wail on him. Liberal use of the Dark Step technique is recommended.
    2. Death Metal will swing his sword wildly about and end his combo with a lunge. You can either Dark Step him during his combo, or dodge his final lunge. He will be wide open for attack if he misses the lunge.
    3. He will summon two clones of himself once his health is down to about 50 percent. These clones possess the same attack patterns as the original. You can determine which is the real Death Metal by locking onto them and checking their health. The real one will have the lowest energy.
    4. Kill the clones first. They are weaker than the original version. Engage in hit and run tactics or try to lure one away from the herd to ensure they don't flank you.
    5. Death Metal will continue the same previous pattern once his clones are gone. Keep employing the same attacks to finish him off.
    6. After the execution cut-scene, turn around and collect the extra vitality from the nearby treasure chest. Much like The Legend of Zelda, you will receive more life each time you defeat a boss. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. You will appear inside Travis's motel room. There are two main areas: the living room and the bedroom. Take note of the telephone, map, and closet in the bedroom. The closet is where you can select outfits for Travis. In the living room you can access the toilet (where you save the game), see what trading cards you've collected, and use the television to watch videos you buy from Beefhead (unavailable for now).
    2. Exit Travis's motel room.
    3. Walk down into the parking lot and forward into the Exclamation Point.
    4. This activates a cut-scene with Silvia. She tells Travis that his next target is Dr. Peace. However you must pay an initiation fee of $150,000 before you can face him. She will kick Travis out of the car in front of K-Entertainment. Walk inside.
    5. The lady inside will tell Travis that he cannot yet participate in any assassination missions. Walk back outside.
    6. The Job Center will become available to visit. Call your motorcycle by pressing "1" and drive to the center.
    7. Enter the Job Center. After talking with the man behind the counter, the game will give you a view of the nearby bulletin board. Accept the job that says "Coconut Collector."
    8. Walk back outside. Drive to the job. It appears on your map as a pink "M."

  • Coconut Collector

    1. Talk to the coconut vendor. He will ask you to collect coconuts from the nearby palm trees.
    2. You will have three minutes to collect as many coconuts as possible. You accomplish this by running up to one of the nearby palm trees and attacking it when prompted. This will cause the coconuts to fall to the ground. Sometimes more than one will fall. Travis can carry up to three coconuts at a time. You need to carry the coconuts back to the vendor.
    3. TIP: You can run more quickly while carrying the coconuts by rapidly tapping the A button.
    4. Repeat until time expires. Successful completion of the mission will result in assassination gigs becoming available at K-Entertainment.
    5. Earn $150,000 through a combination of part-time jobs and assassinations. When you have enough money, deposit it in the ATM and return to your motel.
    6. Travis will check his messages once back at the motel. A recording from Silvia tells Travis to go to Destroy Stadium.
    7. Exit the motel and drive to the yellow IX on the map. Enter the IX icon.


  • Ranked Mission

    1. You start the mission in a subterranean hallway below the stadium. Kill the two enemies that attack. From here you can turn left or right. Turn left and kill the enemies at the end of the hall. Collect Trading Card No. 6 from the treasure chest.
    2. Turn around and follow the hallway past where you entered and around to the left. Kill all the enemies and run up the ramp to the right.
    3. Kill all the enemies you see at the top of the ramp. Walk into the Exclamation Point at the end of this new hallway.
    4. In this new room you will see a number of enemies standing in a straight line. Hold your Wii remote like a baseball bat and hit the baseballs they throw at you. You get three balls. When you hit a ball it will fly forward and kill several of enemies in a row. Try to hit them as powerfully as you can in order to kill the most enemies. You must dispatch any that remain with your sword. Continue to the next room once you've eliminated the opposition.
    5. Kill all the enemies in this new area. Collect Trading Card No. 7 from the treasure chest. Walk up the ramp ahead and into the Exclamation Point.
    6. In this new area you must kill all of the enemies. Walk into the Exclamation Point.
    7. In the next area you'll have to again hit a baseball through a group of enemies. Just do what you did last time. Grab Trading Card No. 8 from the chest in the middle of hall before continuing forward.
    8. Break open the treasure chest in front of the soda machines to receive Trading Card No. 9. Walk into the Exclamation Point.
    9. You're almost there. Eliminate the enemies as you run down this long hallway. Beware the two light saber-wielding enemies who will pop out from the passage to your right about halfway down the hall. Grab Trading Card No. 10 from the chest and walk through the double doors.
    10. You will now be in a long blue hallway. Run to the end to find a Save Area. Silvia will call. Save your game once she is finished talking. Collect any needed supplies and walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Dr. Peace

    1. Dr. Peace relies exclusively on projectile attacks. He will attack you from the pitcher's mound. You need to make your way to the mound while avoiding his bullets.
    2. He has two methods of attack:
      • - A volley of easily blockable bullets.
      • - An unblockable charge shot. You can tell this attack is coming when you see an aura glow around Dr. Peace. Simply dodge this. If the shot connects you will fly several feet backwards and must make your way back to the pitcher's mound.
    3. The fight becomes relatively simple once you get close to Dr. Peace. All you have to do is stay locked onto him, block or dodge his attacks, and knock him around with your light saber until he recovers.
    4. NOTE: This is one of the easiest boss fights in the game. The only thing you really have to worry about is keeping your light saber charged. Obtaining the battery from the nearby blue box is preferable since charging your light saber manually opens you up to attack.
    5. Dr. Peace will automatically shoot you once his life-bar reaches zero. Press the indicated button to put this cowboy down for good.
    6. Collect the vitality power-up from the chest behind you.
    7. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The fax indicates you need to deposit $200,000 to unlock the next ranked mission.
    2. Exit the motel. Thunder Ryu, Area 51, and Naomi's Lab are now available to visit. There is also a new part-time job open at the Job Center. Go and earn the $200,000. Deposit the cash in the ATM and return to the motel.
    3. Silvia will call and tell you the fight is ready. Exit the motel and drive to the VIII symbol on the map.
    4. NOTE: Be sure to buy the Tsubaki light saber from Naomi before starting the mission. It costs $98,000.

  • Rank Mission

    1. You start off in a parking lot. Defeat the enemies that attack you. Turn left and defeat the enemies you see in the distance. Turn around and walk through the parking lot, past where you entered, and around to the left. In addition to a few enemies there will be a treasure chest here with Trading Card No. 11 inside. Once you've killed the opposition an Exclamation Point will appear at the entrance of the high school. Proceed inside.
    2. Walk forward into the hallway ahead. Turn right briefly to collect Trading Card No. 12. Now turn around and follow the hallway straight and then to the right.
    3. NOTE: You will notice fire extinguishers scattered throughout the school. Yellow icons on the map mark their locations. Some of the enemies use flaming weapons. Use these fire extinguishers if Travis gets lit on fire.
    4. Keep moving forward. The hall twist around, but there is only one way to go. Defeat all the enemies you encounter and walk into the Exclamation Point at the end of the hallway.
    5. You are now in a new area. An enemy will activate the school's sprinkler system. This causes Travis's light saber to short out and start electrocuting him. Travis will begin dancing around in pain. You cannot attack in this mode, so turn left and start running down the hall.
    6. Keep moving forward as there is only one way to proceed. Avoid the enemies you see. Eventually you will reach a dead-end. Enter the door on your left.
    7. Walk into the Exclamation Point to deactivate the sprinkler system. Be sure to collect the battery from the blue box behind you.
    8. Retrace your steps back to where you first started getting electrocuted. You will have to face all the enemies that you avoided earlier. Walk into the nearby Exclamation Point when you arrive.
    9. You are now in a basketball court filled with enemies. As usual you will have to kill them all to continue. Approach each group slowly so that only a few notice you at a time. Do not allow them to flank you. Use the light saber charge to clear out multiple enemies or use wrestling moves to quickly take them down one at a time. Once you've cleared the room, walk through the door at the other end of the gym.
    10. Search the next area to find Trading Card No. 13 and 14. Proceed further into the room and walk up the stairs to your right.
    11. Silvia will call you. Walk through the door ahead once she's finished talking.
    12. Turn left and run down the hallway. Collect Trading Card No. 15 from the treasure chest ahead of you.
    13. Proceed to the next hall to find a Save Area. Save your game and collect any necessary items. Walk into the Exclamation Point to face Shinobu.

  • Boss - Shinobu

    1. Shinobu is one of the game's hardest bosses. There are multiple reasons for this. First, the columns around the battle area inhibit your movement. The second is her extreme agility.
    2. Like Travis, Shinobu uses a sword. Keep locked onto her as much as possible. In addition to her regular combo she has a number of special attacks. They are as follows:
      • - A normal lunge that is blockable.
      • - A cartwheel combo that ends in an unblockable charge attack. If you block the first few hits then be sure to jump out of the way to avoid the final attack.
      • - An unblockable projectile attack called Sonic Sword. Roll out of the way to avoid this.
      • - An unblockable charged thrust. Once again just dodge this.
      • - A jumping attack where she yells, "Sky High" and leaps forward. Dodge this as well.
    3. The best strategy is to wait for her to attack and then dodge or Dark Step. If you attack and she blocks then you are probably going to get hit.
    4. TIP: Shinobu will periodically taunt you. While doing this she stands still and slowly waves her sword around. Take the opportunity to hit her while she does this, but be careful because her sword can still damage you.
    5. Shinobu will start using some new moves when she gets down to about half health. They include:
      • - Launching multiple projectiles in a row. As with before there is no way to block these. Just keep moving and/or rolling out of the way.
      • - The second move will look similar to her sword thrust. This time she will say something in Japanese and wait a little longer to attack. Avoid the subsequent sword thrust at all costs. If she connects then she will teleport around and hit Travis multiple times. Unless you are at high health this move will probably kill Travis. The best way to avoid this is to simply flip backwards before she connects.
    6. NOTE: Keep in mind that she will dash forward much farther with this move than her previous charged thrust.
    7. Once she is defeated collect the vitality.
    8. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The new fax says you need to deposit $250,000. Exit the motel.
    2. Gold Town and Beefhead Video are now open to you. Visit them at your leisure.
    3. Earn the required funds, deposit them in the ATM, and return to the motel.
    4. Silvia will call and tell you she is sending a letter. Go to the living room and try to exit the motel. Someone will slip a letter under Travis's door. The letter says to go to the subway station. Exit the motel.
    5. Drive to the VII icon.

  • Rank Mission

    1. From the bottom of the stairs you will be able to see a treasure chest in the distance. Break it open to collect Trading Card No. 16. Proceed into the Exclamation Point.
    2. Walk down the stairs to the subway platform. Don't go into the Exclamation Point yet. First collect Trading Card No. 17 from the chest ahead and to the right. Now you may enter the Exclamation Point.
    3. You are now inside a moving subway train. Keep moving forward through the train. Kill all the enemies that get in your way until you reach the Exclamation Point in the last car. Walk into it to exit the train.
    4. From where you are standing, turn around and collect Trading Card No. 18 from the chest to the left of the stairs behind you. Turn back around and proceed forward. Walk up the stairs.
    5. Turn right at the Exclamation Point you see to find a chest with Trading Card No. 19 inside. Now walk into the point.
    6. Turn left and enter the next Exclamation Point in order to run up the stairs.
    7. You are now outside. Walk down the road and turn left at the building that says Bear Hug Studios. Enter the building.
    8. You are now in a large, two-story warehouse. Kill all the enemies downstairs by taking them out one group at a time. Next dispatch all the enemies upstairs. A door will open downstairs. Walk back down to the first floor and through it.
    9. You are outside again. You need to go through the door directly ahead of you. First turn left and walk around the side of the building to find a treasure chest with Trading Card No. 20 inside.
    10. The next warehouse is similar to the last one. Kill the enemies on both floors to proceed. Try to take out the gun-wielding enemies first so they won't take pot shots at you when you're engaged in melee combat. Walk through the open doorway into the next building.
    11. Yes, it's another warehouse. The good news is that there are fewer enemies to fight. The bad news? Most of them have light sabers. Avoid getting surrounded and take out the enemies one at a time with wrestling moves and Dark Steps. With any luck you will receive a Dark Side power via the slots. Silvia will call once you've killed the enemies on both floors.
    12. Walk through the open door once she's done gabbing. You emerge into a Save Area. Save the game and walk ahead into the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Destroy Man

    1. This super-hero is a pushover compared to Shinobu. You have a large area in which to fight him. Just avoid the debris near the entrance of the room.
    2. Like most bosses Destroy Man has a standard combo that he can use up close. That being said he will mostly rely on special attacks. The great thing is that he announces these, allowing you to prepare for them. They include:
      • - Destroy Beam: A laser will follow you around the room. This is the only blockable move of the bunch.
      • - Destroy Spark: A limited range attack where Destroy Man tries to electrocute you. Dodge this and run behind him to inflict some much needed punishment.
      • - Destroy Cannon: He shoots a big blue ball of energy at you. Roll to one side to dodge it.
      • - A ground pound that will damage Travis if you are within its radius. You can avoid this by flipping backwards.
    3. The best strategy is to use hit and run tactics. Most of his attacks leave him very vulnerable when he misses.
    4. When Destroy Man gets to about half health he will fly into the air and start launching a multitude of blue energy balls at you. He can also swoop down and hit you if you get too close. Remember the Gannondorf fight from The Ocarina of Time? Knock the energy blasts back at him with your light saber. You only need one to connect in order to blast him out of the sky.
    5. NOTE: You can also knock him down by destroying the yellow flashing lights that align the walls of the room.
    6. Destroy Man will now add "Destroy Buster" to his list of attacks. This is a blue energy column shoots straight and then briefly follows you around the room. Keep moving to avoid it and try not to get cornered.
    7. Keep using the same techniques to put this super-hero down.
    8. Collect the vitality and walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The fax says you need to deposit $300,000 to access the next ranked mission.
    2. Earn the money, deposit it, and go back to the motel. Silvia will call you from the beach.
    3. Exit the motel and drive to the VI icon on the map.

  • Rank Mission

    1. You will be on a beach. Walk forward slightly and two enemies will pop out of the sand in front of you. Eliminate them. See the fence ahead? You can't cross it yet because it's electrified. Instead turn around and head down the beach in the opposite direction.
    2. Tip: Many of the enemies you face on this level will use machine guns. Dealing with one is easy enough, but facing a group of such enemies can be frustrating. The best strategy is to block their bullets until they stop firing and then kill one at a time. The most effective way to eliminate them quickly is to use wrestling moves. You might have to stop and block more bullets, but keep wailing on the same enemy until he is dead. Remember that it is better to have two living enemies at full health than three partially damaged ones.
    3. Tip: Blocking these bullets will deplete you light saber's energy rather quickly. Luckily there are many batteries strewn about the beach. If you start to run low and there isn't a battery nearby then disengage the enemy and take cover to recharge your light saber manually.
    4. Enemies will come at you in waves as you walk down the beach. Deal with each group and retreat for cover behind the stairs if necessary. Collect Trading Card No. 21 from the treasure chest at the end of the beach. Turn around and kill any enemies running at you. Once everyone has met the reaper the fence you encountered earlier will lose power. Run up and destroy it with your light saber to proceed.
    5. NOTE: From this point on a red target will indicate where you need to go. This basically means forward along the beach. Also take note of the helicopter above you. Enemies will occasionally jump from the chopper and attack you.
    6. A swarm of enemies will attack in this new area. Use the tactics described above to take them out. Afterwards break open the chest near the lifeguard tower to find Trading Card No. 22. Walk through the opening on the left side of the fence ahead to get to the next area.
    7. Avoid the patch of red colored sand in the middle of the area. There are land mines buried beneath. They appear as yellow icons on the map. Run along the perimeter of the area to the other side. Kill the group of enemies that appear and break down the fence once it loses power.
    8. A mine will blow Travis into the air but won't kill him (a recurring joke in this mission). At this point an enemy with a machine gun will start firing at you. Keep blocking and kill him when he stops firing. Collect Trading Card No. 23 from behind the gray stairs on your right. Kill all the enemies in the area and break the fence to proceed.
    9. You will arrive at another minefield. Navigate using the map to collect the money from the chest in the middle of the field. Walk to the adjacent location and you will be in yet another minefield. Run along the perimeter to collect Trading Card No. 24 from the treasure chest. Kill the enemies that drop from the helicopter and proceed forward.
    10. It's over for now. Run to your left and Silvia will call. Keep following the path as it curves around. Walk up the ramp ahead.
    11. You are now in a Save Area. Save your game. Walk up the set of wooden stairs immediately to the left of the Save icon. Here you will find a chest with Trading Card No. 25 inside.
    12. Go back down to the Save Area and turn left. Walk down the white stairs and enter the Exclamation Point. It's time for the boss fight.

  • Boss - Holly Summers

    1. Run forward and you will automatically drop into a hole. Watch the cut-scene that follows.
    2. NOTE: Before engaging the boss, let's address the most annoying aspect of this fight... the holes! The beach is filled with hidden holes like the one Travis fell into during the cut-scene. Initially the only way to identify these is by swinging your light saber to reveal them. If you fall into one, Holly will throw a grenade inside. Follow the on-screen commands to climb out before it detonates.
    3. TIP: As Holly runs around she will use her shovel to cover up the holes you've revealed. Even if she covers them up, they will be faintly visible under the sand.
    4. The best strategy against Holly is to stay close. Unfortunately she won't hold still for very long. At close range she will attack you with her shovel. You can easily block this and then use the Dark Step to attack. At this range she may also throw a grenade into the ground and detonate it with her shovel. Leap backwards to avoid this and then run up and whack Holly before she can get away. She can also kick sand in your face. Travis will start coughing in response, making you temporarily vulnerable.
    5. Holly prefers to use ranged weapons. She will usually attack with homing missiles. Try to get close and run in a circle around her until they detonate. Afterwards whack her a few times with your light saber. From a distance she will also throw knives. You can block these if you react fast enough.
    6. Holly will commit suicide after you've defeated her. When you regain control, place Holly's body in the nearby hole.
    7. Grab both the vitality and the "U.S. Government Secret." The game will tell you to give the secret to Dr. Naomi.
    8. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The fax says you must earn $350,000 for the next fight.
    2. Take the U.S. Government Secret to Dr. Naomi. She will take it and tell Travis to come back later.
    3. Earn the money, deposit it in the ATM, and drive back to the motel.
    4. Silvia will call you from a club in Ibiza. She's quite the party girl.
    5. Exit the motel and drive to the V symbol on the map. It's in the middle of a field.
    6. NOTE: Notice the blood littering the streets of Santa Destroy. Somebody really needs to buy a safety razor.

  • Rank Mission

    1. Walk down the stairs in front of you. Break open the chests at the bottom of the stairs to receive Trading Cards No. 27 and 28. Proceed down the hall.
    2. As you walk forward you'll notice a dark figure ahead of you. He will run forward a few feet, stop, and then run further down the hall when you get close. This will occur throughout the rest of the mission.
    3. It's a straight shot from here to the boss battle. Keep following the shadowy figure down the hall and kill all the Darth Vader-esque enemies that confront you. Watch out for their charge attacks and projectiles.
    4. NOTE: The Dark Step ability works well against these enemies.
    5. As you approach the end of the hallway, collect Trading Card No. 29 from the nearby chest.
    6. Silvia will call. You will eventually reach a Save Area. Save your game and then collect Trading Card No. 30 from the chest in front of the Exclamation Point. Walk into the point.

  • Boss - Letz Shake

    • There is no fighting involved with this boss. Just sit back and watch the cinematic. This is Suda 51's eccentric storytelling at its best.

  • Prelude

    1. The fax indicates you need to deposit $400,000.
    2. Go to Naomi's Lab and buy the new Tsubaki MK-II light saber. It costs $148,000.
    3. Earn the money for the ranked mission, deposit it, and go back to the motel.
    4. Silvia will call and explain that you're going to a show. Try to exit the motel and someone will slip a letter under Travis's door. Read it and exit.
    5. Drive to the IV icon on the map.

  • Rank Mission

    1. You are back in the Subway. Run forward and turn right. Kill all the enemies in the area. Search the vicinity to find a chest. Break it open to collect Trading Card No. 31. Walk down the stairs.
    2. Walk forward along the subway platform and eliminate all the enemies that attack. They will come at you in groups of three. An Exclamation Point will appear on the right side of the platform.
    3. Don't walk into the Exclamation Point yet! First run to the far end of the platform and collect Trading Card No. 32 from the chest you find there.
    4. Walk into the Exclamation Point.
    5. Travis walks onto a subway car and falls asleep. The game now asks you to remove the external extension control from the Wii remote (aka the nunchuck). Get ready for a mini-game of epically weird proportions!

  • Pure White Giant Glastonbury

    1. NOTE: Pure White Giant Glastonbury is a vertical shooter outwardly similar to Ikaruga (albeit with less sophisticated graphics). There is no way to lose. You begin with only three lives, but the game gives you infinite continues. You control the game by holding the Wii remote horizontally like a NES controller. You move your samurai-like character with the D-Pad. The A button activates a special while the 1 button fires and the 2 button swings a sword.
    2. TIP: You can use the sword to kill enemies and eliminate their projectiles.
    3. TIP: The game features two power-ups. The W-shaped power-up enables your character to shoot lasers in multiple directions. The T gives you the ability to shoot double lasers.
    4. When the game starts a number of targets (literally targets) will fly from the top of the screen and start firing. Destroy them all.
    5. Keep eliminating enemies and eventually some unseen force will begin firing homing missiles. Move left and right to avoid these.
    6. Eventually you will reach the game's boss. It looks like a crucifix attached to a red ball. This is a two-part fight. In the first part the boss will fire lasers 360 degrees around it. Remain in the space between the lasers and blast the boss when it is in your line of fire.
    7. The white walls around you will start to close in. Wedge your character into the notch between the two walls at the bottom of the screen. From here you can keep firing at the boss.
    8. Once you've inflicted sufficient damage, the boss will change its method of attack. This is the aforementioned second part of the fight. The boss will stay at the top of the screen and fire a copious amount of bullets and lasers at you. It's practically impossible to dodge them all. Just keep firing and continue when necessary. Use the sword when practical. Eventually you will take him down. Congratulations on beating Pure White Giant Glastonbury!

  • Back to the Mission

    1. Travis will wake up and exit the train.
    2. Once Travis is back on the platform, immediately turn around and collect Trading Card No. 33 from the chest behind you.
    3. Turn back around and walk forward along the platform. Silvia will call. Walk up the stairs ahead when she is finished talking.
    4. You will see two treasure chests at the top of the stairs. Break them open to find Trading Cards No. 34 and 35. Turn the corner to the right of the stairs to find the Save Point.
    5. After saving, walk to the other side of the room and enter the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Harvey Volodarskii

    1. Harvey is more annoying than difficult. Still, this magician has a number of notable attacks to avoid:
      • - He will launch birds at you from across the room. These are easy to dodge with a simple roll.
      • - An attack where he holds both his arms outstretched and spins like a top. This is hard to avoid. The best method is to just run away until he stops spinning.
      • - An unblockable charged thrust that is easy to dodge.
    2. The strategy that worked with previous bosses will also work for Harvey. Just avoid his attacks and then hit him. When he attacks with his regular combo, Dark Step and unleash your own brand of justice.
    3. At some point Harvey will say, "Welcome to the nightmare!" This flips the screen upside down for a few seconds. Your controls are inverted during this situation. Just act normally and eventually the effect will subside.
    4. Harvey also has an instant kill move. He will say, "Let the music begin!" Afterwards some cheesy music will begin playing and a spotlight will start following Travis around the stage. Avoid the spotlight if possible. If the music stops then you know you have evaded it.
    5. Fear not if the spotlight catches you. There is still a way out. You will watch a brief cut-scene that shows Harvey's assistants enclosing Travis in a wooden magician's box. Struggle to get out by following the on-screen prompts. If you fail to escape a bomb will explode and kill you.
    6. He uses this instant kill attack liberally. Be patient and keep wailing on him when appropriate. Eventually he will go down in a brutal yet ironic way.
    7. Collect the vitality and walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The fax indicates you need to deposit $450,000.
    2. Earn the money, deposit it at the ATM, and go back to the motel.
    3. Silvia will call and tell you that your next opponent is a witch that lives in Speed City.
    4. Try to exit the motel. Someone will slide a letter under Travis's door. Inside is a bus ticket.
    5. Exit the motel.
    6. Drive to the III icon on the map.

  • Rank Mission

    1. You start the mission between two buses. Kill the enemies that attack. Turn left and collect Trading Card No. 37 from the treasure chest here.
    2. From where you started, walk around the building to your left. Kill the enemies here and collect Trading Card No. 38 from the chest.
    3. Return to the main area and turn left. You will probably see some enemies ahead. Walk past the bus (the one that was on your right when you began).
    4. Kill the enemies in this new area and break open the chest for Trading Card No. 36.
    5. Return to the bus station entrance. If you killed all the enemies there will be an Exclamation Point waiting for you. Walk into it and Travis will enter the bus.
    6. The bus will begin moving (interestingly without a driver). Your perspective will switch from third-person to that of a side-scroller. Multiple enemies will appear on the bus. Try to stand on one end of the bus so they cannot flank you. Use wrestling moves, sword clashes, and light saber charges to take them out. If you're lucky you'll get a Dark Side power.
    7. Silvia will call once you're done bloodying the bus's interior. An Exclamation Point will appear at the front of the bus once she's finished jawing. Step inside.
    8. You will find yourself in a Save Area once the cut-scene ends. Collect Trading Card No. 39 from the treasure chest on your right. Save your game. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Speed Buster

    1. The witch known as Speed Buster is at the far end of the road ahead. Every few seconds she will fire an enormous energy blast from her cannon that engulfs the entire road. You want to avoid this by using the buildings on either side of the road as cover.
    2. NOTE: You won't die immediately if you are caught by the blast. The game will prompt you to rapidly tap A as Travis blocks the blast with his light saber. This will not only take away health but also drain your light saber's power considerably. Travis will be blown backwards if you make a mistake.
    3. Run forward during the pauses between her cannon blasts. Use cover when necessary. Red dots on the map indicate buildings you can enter. To do so you will often have to break down a door that leads to the building's interior.
    4. NOTE: Often you will encounter groups on enemies inside these locations.
    5. Make your way to the last red dot on your left. DO NOT go any further than this as there is no cover and Speed Buster will shoot you.
    6. In this alcove you will see a wooden telephone pole. Break it down with your light saber. It will fall and hit other poles, creating a domino effect that disables Speed Buster's cannon.
    7. NOTE: Before going forward, turn around and follow the path behind the pole you knocked down. Eventually you will get to a room with a treasure chest. Inside is Trading Card No. 40.
    8. Walk out onto the main road and run up to Speed Buster. Watch the cut-scene in which Travis dispatches the old hag.
    9. Collect the vitality and the katana sword nearby. The game will tell you to take the katana to Naomi's Lab.
    10. Walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. The deposit amount has increased to $500,000.
    2. Exit the motel. Drive to Naomi's Lab to give her the katana sword from the last mission. She will take it and tell you to come back later.
    3. Earn the cash, deposit it at the ATM, and drive back to the motel.
    4. A pigeon will arrive with a note. It says to go to Destroy Stadium for the next match.
    5. Exit the motel and drive toward the II icon on the map.
    6. When you arrive at the stadium, the game will explain how to make your motorcycle jump. All you have to do is raise the Wii remote up while driving.
    7. Jump over the barrier that leads to the stadium.
    8. Drive around the stadium. When you get to the end you will see the II icon floating behind a barrier.
    9. Pick up some speed and leap over the barrier to continue.

  • Ranked Mission

    1. You will land in the baseball field. Several enemies will attack. Try to run over as many as you can with your motorcycle.
    2. NOTE: The enemies in the in field possess guns. More than likely they will shoot you off the motorcycle. The remainder of this section assumes you are on foot.
    3. Clear the outfield of enemies first. More will jump into the baseball field as you run around the perimeter of the stadium. Move forward carefully so that only a few enemies pop up at a time.
    4. Once you've cleared the outfield, it is time to deal with the gun-wielding enemies around the bases. Try to approach them one at a time. Many will start running away, so a good idea is to let them come to you. Generally what you want to avoid being pelted with too many bullets. If your battery power runs low, then check around the field for blue battery boxes.
    5. Once you've killed all the enemies a trap door will open under home plate. Break open the treasure chests around the stadium to find Trading Cards No. 41, 42, and 43.
    6. Enter the trap door.
    7. You are now in a Save Area. Collect Trading Cards No. 44 and 45 from the nearby chests. #Save your game and walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Bad Girl

    1. After the cut-scene you will be facing the couch where Bad Girl was sitting. To your left are some alcoves with health and batteries. On the ride side of the room is the conveyor belt that Bad Girl used during the cut-scene.
    2. Like all the bosses so far, Bad Girl's attacks start simple and become increasingly deadly as you whittle away her health. As with previous bosses it is easiest to just dodge each attack and then retaliate. The Dark Step works great against any of her combo attacks. What you have to watch out for are her more powerful moves:
      • - She will raise her baseball bat above her head and swing it downward. She is very vulnerable if she misses so be sure to take advantage.
      • - She'll say, "Batter up" and charge you while swinging her bat in one hand. You can block the first few hits, but not the final charge move. Dodge right before she activates the move.
      • - She will stand still and ready her bat as if she is going to hit a baseball. She glows red as she does this. Don't touch her! If you hit her she will block and retaliate with charge move. Take this opportunity to recharge your light saber. She will eventually give up and return to her normal attacks.
    3. As you whittle down her health she will unleash new attacks:
      • - A more powerful downward thrust. Her bat will create a blast radius once it hits the ground. Quickly leap backward to avoid getting caught in its wake.
      • - She will often run over to the conveyor belt and start knocking gimps at you. Yes, gimps. Quickly dodge, as the flying gimps will deal a good bit of damage. She usually hits two gimps at a time. Defeat them in one-on-one combat (they aren't that tough) before re-focusing your energies on Bad Girl.
      • - NOTE: If you are fast enough you can knock the gimps back at her. Swing your light saber as the gimp flies toward you. If you connect, the game will ask you to twirl the Wii remote in a circular motion to hit the unfortunate soul back at her. She will return fire, so be on your toes.
    4. The most important attack to avoid is her instant kill move. You'll know it's coming when Bad Girl sit on the ground and begins crying. If you get too close Bad Girl will beat Travis to death. Instead, keep your distance and wait. You'll know when its safe when she yells "F***" in frustration. Quickly run over and give her a few quick hits before she gets up.
    5. NOTE: She will not always be faking when she falls to the ground. At times she is genuinely crying and can be approached with no consequence. Look at the position of her hands to discern the difference. If one is on the bat, then it's the instant kill move. If they are both holding her face then you can attack.
    6. Roughly halfway through the match Bad Girl will light her bat on fire. Her attacks are the same as before, but deal more damage.
    7. Continue dodging her attacks and retaliating. You will eventually kill her. It's a tough fight so don't expect to win right off the bat (no pun intended).
    8. Grab the extra vitality and proceed into the Exclamation Point.

  • Prelude

    1. You need to deposit $550,000 for the final fight.
    2. Go to Naomi's and buy the Tsubaki MK-III light saber. It costs $498,000.
    3. NOTE: You can buy the sword later. However you must remember to do this or else you will not be able to view the game's real ending. Don't worry, you'll be reminded.
    4. Earn the money, deposit it at the ATM, and drive back to the motel.
    5. Travis will call Silvia's mother. She will tell you to go to the castle.
    6. Leave the motel. Travis will witness a goon stealing his motorcycle.
    7. Make your way on foot (yes, it's a pain) to the I icon on the map. Your motorcycle is waiting for you there.

  • Rank Mission

    1. The next portion of the game is a driving segment. As Travis drives along the highway there are two obstacles to avoid: bikers and crates.
    2. Weave in and out of the crates to avoid crashing into them. The bikers will drive ahead of you. Don't drive directly behind them because they throw grenades.
    3. Don't worry about the bikers themselves. Just dodge the crates and grenades. Eventually the bikers will kill themselves by colliding with the crates.
    4. At some point you will be forced onto a narrow off-ramp with two bikers. This ramp leads you to a narrow, two-lane road bordered by forest.
    5. Avoid the biker's grenades and jump over the tree branches blocking the road.
    6. Eventually you will get ahead of the bikers. Soon thereafter you will see a red laser point at you from afar. Drive back and forth to avoid the laser. The beam is followed by a large blue energy blast.
    7. You will watch a cut-scene that shows the bridge rising ahead. Press the Z button when prompted to increase your speed. Jump at the appropriate time as you cross the bridge. If successful you will clear the bridge and land in the forest.
    8. You are now on foot. Turn around and collect Trading Card No. 46 from the treasure chest behind you. Proceed forward.
    9. You will come to a fork in the path. The ghost of Thunder Ryu will be standing in the center. He will gesture to the right. Follow the path he indicated.
    10. NOTE: Thunder Ryu will indicate the right way to go at each of these intersections. If you go the wrong way then the game will deposit you at the beginning of the current area.
    11. Enemies will begin attacking in the next area. Kill them and collect Trading Card No. 47 from the chest at the fork in the road. Take the path to the left.
    12. Kill the enemies in the next area. You will come to, you guessed it, another fork in the road! Collect Trading Card No. 48 from the chest ahead and take the path to your right (as indicated by Thunder Ryu).
    13. In this new area, four light saber wielding Darth Vader wannabes will attack you at once. You can kill them, or just run past. Grab Trading Card No. 49 from the chest ahead. Take the path to the left at the fork in the road.
    14. Run up to Thunder Ryu's ghost. He will disappear and leave a letter behind. Read the letter. Collect Trading Card No. 50 from the nearby chest and continue forward.
    15. Silvia will call. Keep walking forward as she talks. Gradually the dark forest will brighten.
    16. You will arrive at a Save Area. Save the game and walk into the Exclamation Point.

  • Boss - Jeane

    1. Jeane is incredibly fast and aggressive. The fight takes place in a desert area surrounded by a purple energy dragon that blocks your escape (it makes more sense when you see it).
    2. She will attack you with one of two moves:
      • - Her combo of kicks and punches that always ends with an unblockable dash. Whilst blocking you can try to Dark Step her, although this will not always work.
      • - A long charged dash that is unblockable. She will simply glow yellow and rush forward, knocking Travis off his feet. Dodge this by rolling backwards. Afterwards you can run up and land a few hits before she recovers.
    3. NOTE: Wrestling moves do not work on Jeane. If you try to perform one she will counter it and damage you. If she becomes dizzy it is best to just keep hitting her with your light saber.
    4. When she is down to about 75% health Jeane will tighten the energy dragon. This decreases the fighting area. From here on she will start using two new attacks:
      • - A ground pound similar to Destroy Man's, but with a larger radius. Just flip backwards to avoid this.
      • - She will now dash at you twice with her charged attack. Naturally this means you need to roll out of the way twice to avoid it.
    5. Keep hitting her the same as you did previously. When she gets to about 25% life she will decrease the arena's size even further. She will now dash three times in a row.
    6. Once her health gets down to zero she will initiate a struggle with you. Travis can't win this, so just sit back and watch the cut-scene that follows.
    7. IMPORTANT: When the cut-scene ends you will appear back on your toilet in the motel. From here you can select three options: save your game, view ending, or view real ending. You cannot select the "view real ending" option unless you have bought all three swords from Naomi. If this is the case, DO NOT view the regular ending. Instead, save your game and go out into Santa Destroy to earn money and buy the remaining sword(s). When you have done so, return to the toilet, save your game and select "view real ending." You now get to fight Henry (you knew it was coming, right?).

  • Final Boss - Henry

    1. Henry is fast and has a lot of health. However you are fighting in the parking lot in the front of your motel, meaning you have lots of room to maneuver.
    2. The attack Henry will use the most is his combo. This involves several sword strikes follow by a series of jumps. The last jump strike is unblockable. The best strategy with this is to Dark Step while blocking early in the attack. If he starts jumping, then roll backwards to evade.
    3. Henry has four other attacks that he will use:
      • - An easily avoidable projectile.
      • - A charged lunge with his sword.
      • - A charge swipe with his sword.
      • - He'll glow red in a blocking stance. This is similar to Bad Girl's move. If you hit him he will counter and damage you. Just wait for him to come out of it.
    4. If you can get any quick hits in after the more powerful attacks, great! Otherwise you should primarily rely upon Dark Stepping his regular combo and then knocking him around. Often this will make him dizzy, allowing you to execute a wrestling move.
    1. As you whittle down his health, Henry will begin using his instant kill attack. This is similar to his charged thrust, only he will sit there for longer with his sword cocked and ready. Roll backwards to avoid this.
    2. Keep exploiting the Dark Step and you will eventually take him down. Watch the end cut-scene. Congratulations on beating No More Heroes.
