An Indian man of 26 is suing Unilever for £26,000 because seven years of Lynx (or Axe, as it is named in India) usage has not resulted in getting a girl.
The man, Vaibhav Bedi, claims he is suffering from "depression and psychological damage" because of the lack of any Lynx effect.
Lynx ads are well known for their ad showing scarcely clothed women, chasing men after using the product. According to Bedi: “But Bedi says in his court petition: "The company cheated me because in its advertisements, it says women will be attracted to you if you use Axe.”
Court officials are now ordering laboratory tests on Bedi’s half-used Lynx products. However, Unilever might be in a tight spot as "There is no data to substantiate the supposition that unattractive and unintelligent men don't attract women.” According to Ram Jethmalani, a well known Indian compensation litigator. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_3542183.htmlhttp://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/5201763/__Unilever_aangeklaagd_om_Axe-effect__.html
