On April 21, 2008, Epic Games, the developer behind Gears of War 2 and the original Gears of War confirmed that there will not be a Gears of War 2 demo due to time constraints. Previously, Epic Games never released a demo for their 2007 Game of the Year Gears of War for the same reason. Gears of War 2 was first announced during the John Schappert Microsoft Press Conference Keynote at the 2008 Game Developers Confernece in San Francisco on February 20, 2008, when near the end of the keynote, Cliff Bleszinski, Lead Designer, Epic Games, came out onto the stage with a Gears of War Lancer Assault Rifle with chainsaw bayonet, and as the audience cheered, after a moment, he went ahead and announced the highly anticipated sequel. Gears of War 2 is due out on November 7, 2008 exclusively for the Xbox 360, as was announced by Cliff "CliffyB" Bleszinski at E3 2008.
