This is Part 12 of our complete Ninja Gaiden 2 game guide, featuring Chapter 13: The Underworld Abyss and Chapter 14: Poisoned Blood.
-
Chapter 13 - The Underworld Abyss
- When you regain control of Ryu collect the HEART OF THE BESTIAL STORM.
- Walk through the bone archway and find the MURAMASA STORE on the left. Go up the steps and cue a cutscene.
- When the cutscene ends, the hall fill with Marionette Demons.
- TIP: Marionette Demons are large enemies, so don't bother trying to launch them. Use the Eclipse Scythe to charge up some ultimate attacks, and end them quickly. They tend die in one hit if you do this, so swap out the Dragon Sword during this section. Avoid remaining idle when you're close to them, as they will do a highly damaging stomp attack with their spiky legs. Remember to also make liberal use of the Eclipse Scythe's Obliteration Technique (hold Y near wounded enemy).
- TIP: You can also use the Boomerang Shuriken from a distance (charged to level 2), and hit them for major damage. This will often instant-kill them.
- Proceed through the next door, and find another multitude of Marionette Demons. Again, use the Boomerang Shuriken to do major damage from a distance, or the Eclipse Scythe up close.
- TIP: Try and constantly do an Ultimate Technique and launch it into a crowd of them, injuring multiple enemies at once.
- Enter the next room and encounter a bunch of Chainsaw Bazooka Zombies.
- TIP: The Boomerang Shurken is also an effective tool against these enemies, however, you'll need to first dodge their bazooka attacks and find time to charge the Boomerang Shurien.
- Proceed into the next room. Encounter a bunch of Half-Dragon Demons. Use the Scythe to take them out.
- When they're down continue into the next room. Get the Herb of Spiritual Life in the room before you leave.
- A crowd of Centaurs will attack you in the next room. Use the Scythe to end them. Head right off the main room into a long hall, and go through the tunnel at the end.
- Find the chest containing an Herb of Spiritual Life inside the small room with a low ceiling. Defeat the Bone Scorpions. Find the save point in this room, and two chests.
- When you head back out, you'll be attacked by Ninpo Ninjas and Melee Ninjas. The Vigoorian FlailS are a strong weapon for this section, given their speed and long combos for dealing with small enemies.
- Head all the way down the hall to the left, and through the small circular door. There are a bunch of eggs in the tunnel area, which spawn different enemies when you split them open. In order to get all of the items in this area and continue, you'll need to open up each sack and defeat each enemy successively.
- Break open the first egg and defeat the Melee Ninjas.
- Another egg in the room spawns a Shadow Ninja. Use the Scythe to destroy him before he launches an offensive.
- TIP: be careful not to open extra sacks when you fight the enemies. This is a good way to get overtaken by a Shadow Ninja/Melee Ninja combination.
- Continue through the system of passageways and defeat all the enemies in the eggs.
- 'NOTE: If you're fighting Melee Ninjas, use the "Izuna Drop.
- Then through to the next area, run to the edge and open the chest which contains an Herb of Spiritual Life.
- Purposely fall off the ledge to fight, Evil Alexei, final boss of the chapter.
-
Boss - Evil Alexei - Second Encounter
- TIP: There is an easy way, and a not-so-easy way to defeat Evil Alexei. In the easy way, get as close as you possibly can to him, and constantly spam him with the Eclipse Scythe's Blood Rain attack, until the battle is over. Alexei's attacks involve very powerful long-range attacks, a highly damaging throw, and formidable ground combos. However, none of that will be a threat if you don't give him a chance to breathe.
- TIP: To fight him another way, use the TRUE Dragon Sword in conjunction with the Flying Swallow to zip around him and cause light damage in small bursts.

Chapter 14 - Poisoned Blood
- Pick up the Heart of Azure Lightning.
- Continue on through the little passageway and take care of all the enemies here using the Eclipse Scythe. Head into the next area where there is a Muramasa shop. If you have the money, upgrade whatever you can.
- Keep going forward through the door and be prepared for another battle. Fight the Centaurs, using any Ninpo you can spare and the Eclipse Scythe. There is also a corpse with arrows if you would like to go the marksman's route. Another corpse in the same hallway yields a Devil Way Mushroom.
- Save your game at the save point in the next room.
- Proceed into the next room and there will be a river full of Blood Eels. You can kill the ones swimming close to the ledge with a few Ultimate TechniqueS with the Eclipse Scythe. After that you should hop into the water and use the Gatline Spear Gun to clear the rest. Stay near the ledge so that if you are about to get rushed by a large number of eels you can hop right back up.
- Backtrack a bit and save at the save point after the eels are dead. If you find yourself in one of their mouths and tossed into the air, tap A repeatedly before you hit the water so you will land on your feet and be able to run across the surface to safety quickly.
- TIP: They seem to swim away from you if you stand idle on the ledge, use that to get range and then drop in the water and take then out with the Gatline Spear Gun. Before the next door head to the left for Red Orbs in a chest. Also find the Herb of Spiritual Life to the right. Head through the next door to fight Evil Genshin.
Sub-Boss: Evil Genshin
- TIP: Genshin is easy with the Scythe's Blood Rain attack. Periodically he will become stunned from this. Use the opportunity to hit him with a strong combo. If he gets you off track and starts using fire attacks evade quickly, reset, and then begin the Blood Rain assaults again.
- When he goes down he will give you his sword, the Blade of the Archfiend.
- See the full Blade of the Archfiend combo list below.
- Prepare to fight Evil Elizabet immediately after.

Sub-Boss: Evil Elizabet
- TIP: By default you will begin dual wielding your TRUE Dragon Sword and the Blade of the Archfiend. If you are not accustomed to dual wielding, we suggest switching back to the Scythe and using more Blood Rain attacks and dodges to defeat her. She is very similar to her previous version with the same long range attacks and lunges.

- Pick up the Heart of the Crimson Blood when she's down and move on through the portal.
- The next section will begin with a chest directly behind you containing an Herb of Spiritual Life, a Muramasa shop to your left and a save point.
- Once you are ready head straight. You will come to a door that is opened by all of the hearts that you have collected. Use the next hallway to get acquainted with the Blade of the Archfiend if you wish. They are quick and powerful together. One good combo can take out most of the large enemies.
- Continue onward to the next boss, Dagra Dai.
Sub-Boss: Dagra Dai
- TIP: Stay as close to him as possible (literally, as close as possible) and be aggressive. His lightning attack takes off minor damage and will not knock you back. You can continue to strike him while he is using it.
- TIP: Use the Art of the Inferno Ninpo to take care of any demons he spawns and immediately begin combos against Dagra Dai once the Ninpo completes. We used the Blade of the Archfiend in conjunction with strong ground attacks repeatedly.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 14 - Sub-Boss #3 (Time: 2:41)
- You will now be floating in water. Head to the island and get the Red Orbs from the chest. Follow the spiral path upwards and the mini boss will attack.
Sub-Boss: Archfiend (Immature)
- TIP: Equip your Lunar Staff, Fiend's Bane Bow and the Art of the Inferno. You need to hit the fiend in the head with a charged arrow which will turn the orb in his stomach blue. You then need to hit that orb with a fully charged arrow to do damage. Try to stay towards the center to avoid his fist-smashes. After hitting him in the head or orb he will begin vomiting body parts which do major damage if they connect. Use Reverse Wind to escape them.
- The fight is broke up into thirds. Every time you knock a third of his life off he will climb up and you must follow. This is good, as it will give you time to recuperate. If he unleashes the blue ghosts towards you, use the Lunar Staff's combos or the Art of the Inferno to get rid of them. The ghosts release essence and come in handy for quick charging the bow. The inferno also comes in handy if you are in a tight spot. When you use it you will be momentarily invincible, giving you time to reset for another attack.

Final Boss: Archfiend
- TIP: The advanced Archfiend has powerful range attacks but if you engage him he will not use them as often. They are fairly easy to dodge with the standard Reverse Wind. Equip either the Blade of the Archfiend or the Eclipse Scythe and move in close while he is on the ledge. Do as many strong/quick combos as you can in between attacks.
- From the ledge he uses both the melee attacks and the demon beam. Both are avoidable if you time your jumps and combos properly.
- TIP: Use the Art of the Inferno if you get in trouble, it will make you invincible and give you time to reset. It also does a small amount of damage to the Archfiend.
- We were able to kill him with about 6 full combos using the Blade of the Archfiend. Be relentless, it is possible to dodge some of his attacks by being very close, causing them to go over top of you.
- Blip.tv: Ninja Gaiden II Walkthrough - Chapter 14 - Final Boss (Time: 4:28)
- Once you defeat him you have beaten the game. Congratulations!
