On this page you will find a full-text walkthrough of Ninja Blade, an action game released for the Xbox 360 on April 7, 2009
Ninja Blade Combat
Ninja Blade features a heavy use of quick-time events to defeat certain enemies. During these sequences the player must press a particular button when prompted. If the player is able to press the given button within the time allowed Ken will damage the enemy. However, if the sequence is broken the player will be punished by having to replay the scene over until they get it right. In the course of his adventure, Ken will utilize a multitude of martial arts moves as well as basic weapons such as swords and grenades.Xbox.com: Xbox.com | Ninja Blade Some of these weapons can be upgraded along the way by obtaining crystals from downed foes and applying them directly to the weapons themselves. Mission.001
- The game begins with a cutscene of a girl transforming into a horrible monster in Tokyo. After this scene, you'll be introduced to Ken, the star of Ninja Blade.
- When he jumps out of the plane, the game's first Quick Time Event begins. These are cinematic sequences in which you must respond to a button prompt as it appears on screen.
- Press X when the first creature appears to slice it, then X again to kill the second creature.
- Press Y to kill the third creature, and Y again to kill the next one. Ken will enter a building, and you'll gain control of him.
- Approach the enemy on the left side and tap X repeatedly to perform a normal attack.
- Defeat all three enemies with normal attacks. Note that these enemies drop Yellow Healing Crystals, which restore your energy.
- Another three enemies will appear. Try using Y to strike them with ranged attacks.
- The next group will be larger. Keep your eyes peeled for incoming attacks, and hold LT to block. Use a combination of regular and ranged attacks to kill these foes.
- After defeating the enemies here, a Quick Time Event will begin. Press A to jump, then A again to land.
- Wait until the Pox Giant swings his arm, then dash towards him by tapping RT when moving in his direction. Perform a few attacks, then dash away by pressing RT again.
- Repeat this process. Get out of the way to the right or left when he gets ready to slam the ground.
- Don't attack the giant while the flames are surrounding him. Instead, move to the right and kill the three enemies that come from the window.
- Now, resume attacking. Use your dash to avoid the giant's ground pounds, then move in and perform a ranged attack, followed by a couple of normal attacks.
- Get back again when the giant gets ready to attack. Repeat the cycle. You'll have to endure another round of flames and weaker enemies before finishing the Pox Giant off.
- When its energy is depleted, approach the giant and press X to begin a Todome finishing move. This launches a Quick Time Event.
- The sequence here is X, X, A to jump, Y and Y to perform the final blow. Doing so will earn you the "How Ya Like Me Now?!" Achievement.
- Approach the rubble pile on the right side. Use the A button to jump up the ledges.
- When you reach the side of the building, hold RT while running to perform a long dash. This will get you to the other end of the building quickly.
- You'll meet Master partway down, and he'll demonstrate a wallrun. To follow him, approach the wall while moving forward and hold RT while running into it (you'll see Ken's hand brace against the wall). Keep running until you reach the other side.
- Turn left into the building, where you'll find some crates. Break them with your sword to get Blood Crystals, which can be used to upgrade weapons.
- HEALTH PIECE: Wall run along the wall where you found the crates. Go around the corner to your right and break the crates here to get the game's first Health Piece. Collect three to upgrade your Health Gauge.
- Defeat the enemies ahead with regular attacks. A giant enemy will crash through the wall, triggering a Quick Time Event.
- Press the left thumbstick down to dodge, Master will save you with a shuriken, driving the enemy back.
- Follow Master by jumping to the pole on the wall. Press forward on the left thumbstick to swing. Once Ken is swinging completely around the poll, press A' to jump when he's pointing forward.
- At the next platform, turn left and move along the outside ledge. Swing between the two poles and meet Master ahead.
- Climb up the wall to follow Master by approaching it and holding RT.
- To scale the next narrow vertical passage, hold RT and press in the direction of the wall to climb up. Keep holding RT and press in the direction of the other wall while pressing A to jump to it. When you hit the next wall, switch the thumbstick to the other direction and press A again. This should take you to the top.
- Here, you can use Ninja Vision to see hidden things by pressing LB. While using Ninja Vision, note that the blue walls ahead can be climbed. Jump up these walls the same way you did the last corridor.
- You'll face a few enemies with projectiles ahead. You can dodge they're shots when you're far away, but use RT to block when you get closer. Defeat each enemy with a few taps of X.
- Approach the wall ahead and climb up the long, unbroken wall towards the right side. Defeat the pair of enemeis up here, then press left thumbstick down to dodge the Pox Giant in another Quick Time Event.
- Now, you'll learn how to use Ninjutsu. Look towards the fire ahead, then hold B to aim the Cyclone Shuriken. Release the button to launch the shuriken. This puts out the fire, allowing you to progress.
- At the gap in the floor ahead, use another Cyclone Shuriken to put out the next fire before continuing. You can wallrun on the right wall to reach the next platform.
- Turn the corner and put out the next fire, then run along the right wall again.
- Drop down into the room on your right. Before climbing up the wall ahead, put out the fire at the top. Repeat this process as you climb the next wall.
- Break the crates at the top of this wall to get the First Aid Spray. This can be used to restore health.
- Before entering the next room, douse the flames in front of you. Let a few of the enemies come to you, then defeat them with a few taps of X followed by Y. You need to defeat all the enemies here to progress, but collect everything in the crates before doing so.
- Once the enemies are defeated, the Pox Giant will appear again, launching another Quick Time Event.
- Press B to use Ninja Vision, then press "A" to jump. After a brief break, press the left thumbstick down to dodge, then press up to dodge again.
- You're now fighting the flaming Pox Giant. Run away to get some distance, then put the fire by launching a couple of Cyclone Shuriken at him.
- When the flames subside, move in and slash a few times, then back away with a quick dash. Repeat this until the giant sets ablaze again.
- Repeat this cycle once more. The giant will now set the entire area on fire.
- Try to line up your Cyclone Shuriken so it hits the giant and takes down some of the flames on the way. Stay in this safe area as you continue to battle the Pox Giant.
- Once its energy is depleted, press Y to launch a Todome.
- Press the left thumbstick up to dodge, then down to dodge again. The sequence from here is X, X, Y, X, X, Y.
- Once the giant is defeated, the ground will crumble. Press the left thumbstick up to dodge.
- You now have to escape from the burning building. Get a head start by holding RT while running. At the end of the hallway, press A to jump out of the window.
- You're now sliding down the side of the building. Use the left thumbstick to move left and right and slow down and speed up. Pressing A makes Ken dive down, and X attacks. Just cruise along and slice any enemies that get in your way.
- A giant spider will approach, beginning a Quick Time event. Press B, then hit A when you see Ken sliding down the wall with his sword. Press A to catch the wires thrown to you and A again to use them. Finally, press Y to land.
- You'll get the Twin Falcon Blades to use against the swarm of bats ahead. Press left or right on the D-Pad to arm them, and use regular attacks to defeat these creatures.
- Switch back to your sword when the larger flying creatures appear. Hold LT to block until one of them strikes. Once you defect the attack, follow up with a combo. Repeat this until all enemies are dead.
- Arm your twin blades and approach the end of the building you're on. Press A and you'll use the blades as a grapple wire to reach the next building.
- Chi Piece: Destroy the barrels on this platform to get a Chi Piece. Collect three of them to upgrade your Chi Gauge. HINT: You can use Ninja Vision to see which barrels contain items. They glow in blue.
- Shinobi Moji: One of the barrels here also contains a Shinobi Moji, a sacred collectable object. There's one in every level.
- Emblem: You can also find the Oni-Slayer Blade Emblem, another form of collectable that appears as the icon on your back, in these barrels.
- Once you've collected everything, climb up the wall marked in blue when using Ninja Vision. Use the grapple wire to get to the next building.
- Another swarm of tiny enemies awaits. Use the dual blades to defeat them while avoiding the projectiles thrown by Arachne. Wait until you're clear of the fireballs before attacking. If you see a fireball coming your way, perform a quick dodge to avoid it.
- Keep moving along here until you get close enough to Arachne. This triggers a fairly lengthy Quick Time Event.
- Press A to jump, and X to attack. Then, hit the left thumbstick left to dodge, followed by A, X and Y.
- Press up on the left thumbstick to dodge again, then press Y. Master will throw a heavy weapon. Press A to catch it, then hit Y to strike and B to throw the sword down.
- You'll regain control of Ken. Press the D-Pad right to arm the Stonerender Sword, and use it on the first Carrier.
- A group of enemies will come from above. Hold Y, then release it to create a shock wave. This knocks back your opponents.
- Clean up the foes with the Stonerender. Another group of enemies will come, so use the same strategy to defeat them. When you see a cutscene, be ready to press Y to finish off the last enemy.
- There's a cracked wall ahead that you can break through. Arm the Stonerender and tap A near the wall to destroy it.
- Go through the wall and follow Master around the corner to the right. Ahead, he'll demonstrate how to jump while wallrunning.
- Before following him, drop down to the platform below. Break the barrels for a couple of health crystals, then turn back and dash up the wall.
- Now, run along the left wall and press A just before you reach the middle beam to jump over it.
- OUTFIT: Next, Master will show how to jump from one wall to the next. First, drop down to the platform below. Use the Stonerender to break the wall to your right and open the crates inside for the "Pin Stripe Outfit." Be sure to open all crates before going back to where you were.
- To run between walls, start your wallrun normally, then point the left thumbstick towards the opposite wall. Press A to jump to it. Ken should be able to run to the next platform from here.
- Crack open the barrels to get some health and an Adrenaline Boost, which temporarily increases your attack and defense strength.
- Switch to the twin blades and press A at the end of this platform to grapple to the next one, triggering a Quick Time encounter with Arachne.
- The sequence here is left thumbstick down', X, A, X, Y, A.
- Pursue Arachne by wall running across the first gap, then wall running and jumping to the left wall to cross the second gap. Now, it's time to fight.
- To get close, you'll have to avoid the energy waves Arachne throws. Move left and right as you run to dodge the vertical standin waves, then jump to get over the waves on the ground.
- Switch to the Stonerender by pressing left on the D-Pad when you get close. Dodge Arachne's fireballs, then stand back and wait for its legs to smash into the ground.
- Now, attack the legs. You can knock the armor plating off each time Arachne attacks.
- Once the legs lose their armor, keep attacking them with the Stonerender. Destroy both legs, and you'll have a chance to hack at Arachne's head.
- After dealing some damage, you'll see a cutscene. Be ready to "Endure" a counterattack by tapping A repeatedly.
- Now, you've got to approach Arachne again. Use the same method as before to avoid the waves. If you get knocked back, recover with a quick dash forward.
- When you get close, start attacking the legs again. Hit the head when both are destroyed, just as you did before.
- For this Quick Time Event, hit A to use your wire. This takes you underneath Arachne.
- There are two sides where you can attack Arachne's legs. The left side is covered with fire, and the right side is guarded by bats. The right side is worth venturing to for some quick health in the barrels, but you'll want to stick with the left side for your attacks.
- Stand near the corner where the path turns back on the left side, and dodge Arachne's leg as it comes down, then quickly use your Cyclone Shuriken to put out one of the fires. Repeat this until all three fires are gone.
- Start with the leg in the corner where you're standing. Dash out of the way when it drops, then hit it with the Stonerender. Meanwhile, if the big leg further along the path starts to drop, dash out of the way to avoid the shockwaves.
- Keep hitting the once the armor goes away to destroy it.
- Next, target the big leg. You'll have to jump to avoid the shockwaves as it comes down. Destroy it the same way you did the last one.
- Finally, work on the furthest leg. You'll have to dodge fireballs as you're doing this, so be ready to dash away at a moment's notice.
- Once all three legs are destroyed, you'll get a chance to hit Arachne's body. Attack with X while holding the Stonerender.
- After several hits, Arachne's legs will come back, but without protective armor. Destroy them in the same order you did the first time, then attack the body again.
- You'll have to perform roughly three body attacks to launch the Todome for Arachne. Once its energy is depleted, get close and press A to start the finishing move.
- Press X, then tap A repeatedly when prompted. Next, hit Y repeatedly, then A repeatedly again. Press Y, then hit A to jump on the wrecking ball. Press X, and then Y to finish off Arachne for good. Rest easy during the cutscene that follows; there are no Quick Time Events between here and the end of Mission 1.
