This is Part 9 of our complete Ninja Blade walkthrough, featuring Mission 009.
-
Mission.009
- We upgraded the Twin Falcon Knives and Cyclone Shuriken for this level.
- After the opening cutscene, the level begins with Ken on a mounted turret. Start shooting the flying creatures with the machine gun when you see them.
- Reload between each lull in these initial waves of enemies.
- When the Scolex Worm appears, switch to missiles by pressing RB and start hitting the enemy. Be sure to aim for the mouth when it opens.
- Reload after driving back the Worm the second time. Keep firing and you should be able to kill it without reloading again.
- Use machine guns to take out the enemies on the ground ahead. Aim for the bright lights if they fire rockets.
- You'll face more flying enemies after this. Stick with the machine gun initially, then switch to missiles to kill the armored enemies.
- Quickly switch back to the machine gun to shoot at more ground enemies.
- After this, you'll face another Scolex Worm, accompanied by flying creatures this time. Drive the main enemy back with missiles, and when you have a free moment, hit the clump of smaller enemies with missiles as well.
- Keep firing at the worm until it's defeated.
- You'll fly for a moment, then you'll face the giant Kanbe. Aim for the face when you see it and shoot missiles.
- He'll throw you away. Reload and keep looking forward.
- When you see Kanbe in the distance, shoot missiles at the giant projectiles he sends your way.
- When he lifts a huge hunk of ground in the air, aim for his face and chest. Keep firing missiles until he drops the ground back.
- When the Quick Time Event begins, press Down, A and Down.
- Play resumes with Ken on foot. Go down the walkway and take the path on the left.
- When the laser coming from the sky appears near you, get out of the way. After a few moments, it will fire down at the ground. You'll have to deal with this for much of the level, unfortunately.
- Use the Stonerender to take out the first few groups of carriers ahead. It's pretty straightforward, but be ready to avoid the sky laser while fighting.
- When you get to the wall that you can run up, arc a Flame Shuriken over it to kill the two projectile enemies above. This is easier than dealing with their electrical guns directly.
- After you grapple, point Thunder Shuriken at the ground ahead to shock the enemies behind the bars. Then, use Flame Shuriken to finish them off.
- Break through the wall and turn right. Be ready to kill the lone carrier that pops out of the crates ahead.
- Keep moving to the end of this building and grapple to the next one when it's safe.
- Toss Flame Shuriken at the two groups of enemies. This will blow up the barrels behind them, killing them easily.
- At the edge of this building, toss another Flame Shuriken at the carriers below, then use the pole to jump down to the next building.
- EMBLEM: Kill the carriers in the immediate vicinity when you hop down here. Then, break the wall to your left. The "Ninja Blade" Emblem is inside this room.
- Use your twin blades to kill the bats at the end of this building, then grapple to the next one.
- Toss a Flame Shuriken at the platform above to kill some of the gunners. Switch to the Stonerender to kill the enemies below, then clear out any remaining gunners with more Flame Shuriken.
- HEALTH PIECE: To the left, there's a path that leads up to the raised platform where the gunners were standing. Go up here and grapple to the next building. Toss Flame Shuriken to clear a safe path through the exploding barrels, then move to the breakable wall at the end of the building. The game's final Health Piece is in this room.
- Return to the other building. From the raised platform, arc Flame Shuriken at the enemies below.
- Jump down and put out the flames with Cyclone Shuriken. Then, grapple to the next building.
- There's a Pox Giant to deal with here. If it raises one hand in the air, get ready to dodge a fireball. If it raises two hands, stand back or be prepared to jump over a shockwave on the ground.
- Approach the Giant after one of its attacks and use the Stonerender. If you get caught in its grasp, tap the button that appears on screen until you're free.
- Be on the lookout for carriers. Kill them with the blade before returning your attention to the Pox Giant.
- When the Giant retreats to the ground, keep moving to avoid the spikes that come up.
- Eventually, the Giant will throw bombs from his hole. Send them back with unaimed Cyclone Shuriken.
- When Pox Giant pops up again, finish him off with the Stonerender.
- Use the newly formed beam to get to the next building.
- Aim Thunder Shuriken at the next two enemies, then wallrun to reach them. Kill them with the Stonerender, but watch for another carrier coming from ahead.
- Once they're all defeated, approach the next building and toss Flame Shuriken at the enemies below. When only the armored enemy remains, use the pole to jump down and kill him with the Stonerender.
- At the raised platform ahead, arc a Flame Shuriken over to kill the two projectile enemies. Climb up, then grapple to the next building.
- You'll have a confrontation with Mutant Kanbe here. Jump over the shockwaves he creates when pounding the ground, then hit either of his arms with the Stonerender.
- After this, he may create a series of electrical lines to avoid. Retreat to the far end of the arena if this happens and jump over the low waves, standing off-center to avoid the vertical lines.
- He may also slam the ground and create fire. Keep running to avoid the flames. When they stop rising from the ground, use Cyclone Shuriken near the hands, then attack them with the Stonerender.
- After enough successful hits, Kanbe will enter a pattern of dipping his head towards you, then raising his left hand and launching electricity. Run around the arena to avoid these attacks, then attack the hand.
- If the bats get to be too much of a nuisance, kill them with your twin blades. Otherwise, keep attacking the hand. Eventually, Kanbe will stagger back.
- For his next attack, he'll shoot blue energy from his eyes. Keep moving to avoid them.
- When he stops firing, get underneath the head and use X attacks with the Stonerender to hit him on the chin. The best time to do this is while he's yelling, but you can sneak in more attacks in the short time between each round of fire.
- Kanbe will then stagger back and let his head fall onto the building. Now's your chance for some major damage. Get close and hit him in the head with the Ninja Blade.
- After this, Kanbe will summon some regular enemies. Toss an unaimed Thunder Shuriken at them when they get close, then use the twin blades to kill the bats and some of the weaker enemies.
- Throw more Thunder Shuriken to stun them, then use the Stonerender to finish off the remaining carriers.
- His attack patterns remain the same after this. Keep attacking hands until you can get to the head. Once you've depleted his energy, get close and press A to begin the Todome.
- Press X, Left, Y and A, and Ken will be thrown to a distant platform.
- Go down the steps and take the path on the left.
- Kill the carriers at the next platform and break through the wall ahead.
- The steam on the next wall blasts one long burst, then a short one, then a long one. Run up after this to reach the next platform.
- Throw Cyclone Shuriken to put out the fire on the building ahead, then grapple.
- Wallrun to the next building, then jump down.
- The steam leaks ahead have the same pattern as the last one. Run through each after the third blast.
- After you get through, there's a breakable wall behind some crates to your right. Go through here, then through the next breakable wall behind it.
- SHINOBI MOJI: Once you get outside, turn around to your left. There's a nook with the game's final Shinobi Moji.
- OUTFIT: Cross the bridge and head through the breakable wall on the next building. The "Maple" Outfit is in this room.
- Continue through the next breakable wall. This area's kind of hectic, but the enemies are easily defeated with the Stonerender. Use Cyclone Shuriken to take care of the bats.
- A pole to the left of the broken wall leads to the next platform. Here, you'll fight the Mylasia Fly.
- Stand under it and use the twin blades to attack. When you see the Fly hover back out of range, dash left or right to avoid its dash attack.
- When the small bugs appear, use Thunder Shuriken to kill them, making the Fly reappear.
- Kill any enemies that emerge with the Stonerender, then keep attacking the Fly.
- Once the Fly's energy is depleted halfway, you'll have to retreat when it lowers close to the ground. If you get hit by the electricity, wiggle the left thumbstick to get free. In any case, be ready to jump over the Fly's sweeping laser.
- Defeat the Fly and a bridge will open up. Dash through and kill the projectile carrier at the end.
- Run through the path until you reach an area with several projectile carriers in a corner. Toss a Flame Shuriken at them to ignite the nearby barrels, killing them all.
- Near these enemies, use the pole to reach the next platform below. Open the barrels here for a First Aid Spray, then grapple ahead to meet Kanbe once again.
- When he gets ready to bring down his sword, stay to the far right, then wallrun on the blade to reach the next platform.
- After this, he'll stab the ground towards the left edge. Wallrun up the blade, then jump at the top to reach the next platform.
- When Kanbe holds his blade parallel to the ground, dodge the yellow fireballs simply by dashing around them.
- When he holds his left hand in the air with two fingers out, retreat to the back of the arena to avoid the yellow box he creates, then getready for a fire attack similar to the last time you faced him. Run around to dodge the flames from the ground, then put out the fire on his hand and attack it with the Stonerender.
- When he drives his blade into the ground. Stand to the right to avoid electrical waves. Once this attack stops, get close to Kanbe's left hand and hit it with the Stonerender.
- Use Cyclone Shuriken to kill the bats if they get in the way.
- Continue this cycle until Kanbe lowers his head and starts shooting energy from his eyes, similar to the last round.
- Avoid the attacks, then get close during each temporary delay and hit Kanbe under the chin. Use the opportunity when he yells to execute more attacks.
- Continue to do this until he lowers his head onto his right hand. Get close and use the Ninja Blade to attack the head.
- A Quick Time Event will occur after this. Tap A repeatedly to endure, then press Left, A and X.
- A group of enemies will appear. Stun the three projectile enemies with Thunder Shuriken, then kill them with the Ninja Blade. Use Cyclone Shuriken and twin knives to kill the bats.
- Kanbe will pound the ground with both hands. Jump over the shockwaves, then attack either hand with the Stonerender.
- He'll go back to the cycle of shooting electrical waves, but you won't be able to hit the hand so easily this time. Wait until the electricity subsides, then go into Ninja Vision and rush towards Kanbe's face. Jump up and hit it with the Stonerender.
- Keep attacking until Kanbe lowers his head onto his arm again. Attack with the Ninja Blade to deplete the rest of his energy.
- Getting to the Todome is tricky. Carefully approach the right side of Kanbe's sword. Wallrun up it, and jump just after you start moving up. Tap A as you're flipping back towards Kanbe's mouth to trigger the finishing move.
- Press X, X, Left, X, A, Y, A.
- Once inside Mutant Kanbe, press Down at the Quick Time Event.
- Now, it's time to fight Kanbe hand-to-hand. NOTE: If you lose here, you'll see the game's bad ending. You can still restart the battle, from the last checkpoint, but there's a cutscene to watch first.
- Hold LT to block the first attack. Tap X as fast as you can during the next two button prompts to do some damage.
- Follow this by immediately switching to the Ninja Blade, then executing a few attacks.
- Kanbe is vulnerable to unaimed Thunder Shuriken. Get close to him and throw the Shuriken right in his face, then hit him head on with the Stonerender. Hit X until you see Ken do his slam down attack, then retreat.
- Repeat this strategy until Kanbe's energy is depleted, then approach him and press A to begin the Todome.
- This part is easy. Prses X, then Y. When the action slows down, press Y to execute the final attack.
- Enjoy the final cutscene. You've just beaten Ninja Blade. Don't forget, if you collected all nine Shinobi Moji, you can return to Mission.005 at the sealed off path for a special weapon.
