  • Night of the Living Dead is a black-and-white independent horror film that revolutionized the horror film industry. It is considered to be a defining influence on the modern pop-culture zombie archetype and one of the first films of it's kind to have an African American hero. The film is the first of five Dead films (completed or pending) directed by Pittsburgh native George A. Romero and was filmed at a rural farmhouse 30 miles outside of the city under the titles Night of Anubis and later Night of the Flesh Eaters.

  • Plot

Pandemonium breaks out after a speculated NASA satellite covered in radiation returns to earth. Anyone that was killed by the return of the satellite, and died without brain trauma rises from the grave and returns as a flesh eating zombie. The only way to kill a zombie is to smash its brains or blow up its head, making it hard to get close enough without getting bitten, which will turn you into a zombie. A group of survivors find refuge in a near by farmhouse, their only hope of survival is getting some gasoline in attempts to blow up the walking corpses.
