  • A Promising Career is Born

    Kretchmer grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, just outside of St. Paul, and has two sisters. Kretchmer attended the University of Louisville to study dentistry, her father's profession. To help pay for her studies, Kretchmer was a part-time telemarketer. During college, she appeared in the men's magazine Maxim, in a section that promotes young non-celebrity women. The overwhelming positive reader response to her appearance in this issue led to Kretchmer's selection as one of the 10 finalists for the magazine's 2007 Hometown Hotties contest. At the same time, Kretchmer attended the Canadian Model and Talent Convention and was signed by Top Models to a modeling contract. Since then, Kretchmer has appeared in magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Glamour, and done print advertisement work for L'Oreal.
